Hello Everyone. I'm very new here, this is my first post, but I've read a few different threads hear, as I've been slowly trying to get into 40k during the lockdown.
I'm trying to play an ultramarines succesor chapter, with the current traits being Indomitable and Stalwart.
I'm trying to start small, and make a decent 500 pts list, even though I've played a few larger games with counts-as and proxies.

So anyway, here it goes:

++ Patrol Detachment 0CP (Imperium - Adeptus Astartes - Ultramarines) [24 PL, 3CP, 495pts] ++

+ Configuration +

**Chapter Selection**: Indomitable, Stalwart, Ultramarines Successor

Battle Size [3CP]: 1. Combat Patrol (0-50 Total PL / 0-500 Points)

Detachment Command Cost

+ HQ +

Captain in Terminator Armour [6 PL, 120pts]: Storm shield, Thunder hammer, Warlord

+ Troops +

Intercessor Squad [5 PL, 105pts]: Astartes Grenade Launcher, Bolt rifle
. 4x Intercessor: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades
. Intercessor Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Frag & Krak grenades

Intercessor Squad [5 PL, 105pts]: Astartes Grenade Launcher, Bolt rifle
. 4x Intercessor: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades
. Intercessor Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Frag & Krak grenades

+ Heavy Support +

Hellblaster Squad [8 PL, 165pts]: Plasma incinerator
. 4x Hellblaster: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Frag & Krak grenades
. Hellblaster Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Frag & Krak grenades

++ Total: [24 PL, 3CP, 495pts] ++

What do you guys think? Is it reasonable? What would be a good way to improve it?

Welcome to Dakka.

Looks pretty good overall. Small point marine lists are always rough. I like to give my intercessor sarges a CC toy. They have a decent number of attacks, and tend to end up in the thick of things. At the very least the free chainsword.

Hellblasters are very front loaded for damage. If the get a few good shots off they can be worth it, but can die just as fast as other marines.

Thanks you. I'll remember that about the hell blasters. What is CC?

Close combat. It’s not that many point s to give the sarge a power sword, or a fist if you have a little extra. With the number of attacks you get, plus one on the charge, it turns them from slapping the bad guys a lot to cutting apart their foes.

Do you think it's reasonable to give one of the sarges a thunderhammer? Or is that not the best option do you think? What do you think is probably the best CQC weapon for the intercessors?

Honestly, the only 9th I’ve been playing is crusade games with power levels. Last I looked, thunder hammers were a lateral shift from powerfists, but still priced like they were clearly the better choice. And generally the things you want to be hitting with the hammer are not the sort of things your sarge wants to mess with. Not a bad call for HQs, who are going to be tangling with mean things with invulns and a lot of wounds. But your sarge is probably going to want the AP of a sword/fist more so when he’s arguing with his peers over who controls an object he gets the final word in.

That said, if you think they look awesome, go for it.

(And from a modeling POV, magnets)

Okay, by giving both the Seargents power fists I'm exactly at 500 pts. Thank you for all of your help. I'll see if I can try this list out this weekend. I'll probably be playing up against blood angels.
