Hello hello everyone!
I recently got my Skelly bois out of the pile of shame and after stripping them I'm trying to do a good job, but I'm stuck on what colors to use as i don't want a silver tide + i want to kitbash some night haunt bits to make them look real spooky (like using lady Olinder as a C'tan shard)

My idea was to prime them white then wash them with the GW oxide then add details & bits in stone to make them real ghosty, but the result is a bit underwhelming...

So I tried inverting the scheme but they look kinda boring and the ghosty bits don't work as well as I wanted

Lastly I skellyfied them out of desperation...

I have moss and cool wires to make them a bit more unique but I dont want to rely on them as a bad scheme will screw me over in the long run

Do you guys have tips or suggestions, preferably to make the ghost scheme work but at this point I'm open to any idea to make them cool

I'm sorry the photo is shoddy but my phone camera is a bit temperamental after a couple of hard falls

Hmm, the ghostly ones problem is that it lacks accentuation.

Another alternative is a going for a green ghostly scheme, i have a bunch of exemples of a concept army for my CSM called the cursed in my gallery. It's a simple scheme but green.

A potentially good effect would be phasing in phasing out metal accents. What i mean by that, why not f.e. take the ghostly one to the right and say a 3rd of him is phased in, aka add in metal accents on the corners?
You could play with the ratio and angle you apply to be phased in?
That way you'd get some sharper detail.
Another part is the counterpoint could be a highlight in white on the non phased in side so the speak with white?

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Check out John Prin's Necrons - might be what you want. https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/783246.page

Oh Canada!

Are there any alternative clear plastic gun glowy things available? I think part of the clash is the neon green with the teal. It just doesn't look right. They'd be way cooler in ice blue or something. I like the far right scheme, it might benefit from a touch more contrast in the shadows or a gradient, but it's unique looking.

You could try tinting the green plastic with nihilakh oxide. If that doesn't work, here are some darker blue rods: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Warhammer-40K-Necron-Warrior-Rods-Dark-Blue-x10-Custom-Made-Necron-Rods-/181339715344?pt=Games_US&hash=item2a38b07710

Thanks everyone!
The green ghost color scheme is very cool, but not what i had in mind, still i'm gonna steal it for Beverly gaslands cars
I'm definetly going to steal John Prim's scheme, just tweaking it a bit, thanks for the link!
for the rods, yeah I'm gonna paint them up, probably a light blue shade as they are they clash too much

As soon they are finished I'll update with some photos, thanks again!
