Greetings. Long time absent from the forum.

I have recently started working on a large commission of Horus Heresy Mechanicum. The impressive collection is comprised of 191 miniatures, soon to be painted in a Forge World Zhao Arkhad color scheme. Figured to share work in progress with a wider audience.

The project will be painted in the same standard level, with an exception of few named characters. Plain basing, coherent color scheme and nice presence on the gaming board is what I aim for.
The test batch is already done.

I will be back with more pictures once I hit certain milestones.

In the meantime feel free to ask any questions regarding the project.
You can also find me at Facebook, or Instagram,
and/or visit my website https://scarhandpainting.com for more pictures, tutorials, color recipes and stuff like that.

Oof! Those tech-preists are absolutely gorgeous! Love the colour scheme, too. Great work! Can't wait to see the rest of this!

Gorgeous scheme, love the pale sickly green glow. I look forward to seeing more! I do wish the 40k Mechanicum took more design cues from the 30k vehicles, I'm excited what you do with those.

A nice bit of kitbashing on the techpriests. I also particularly like the paintwork on the brass, with that perfect amount of tarnish. How did you achieve it?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Thanks all! It excites me to see people like the paint job.

I start with GW Warplock Bronze, folow up with a zenithal airbrushing of Vallejo Bright Bronze, then flatbrush with Army Painter Shining Silver, finally wash with a mix of Army Painter Strong and Soft tone inks. I then highlight few places with AP Shining Silver and blend some Soft Tone ink. Tarnished looks is provided mostly by a proper application of flatbrushed Shining Silver. I will definitely share a full color recipe at my blog once the project is done.

Few more pics. Tested vehicle armor, large bases detail, how metallic turquoise transfers to large surfaces. These will definitely improve with Necron transfer sheets applied.

Pretty much time to paint all the rest

Looks great. This style of painting really is the way to go to get large army projects through the grinder, with a very good overall result.

Some stellar work there, very nice to see a full 30k Admech army. If I had to critique however I'd say the OSL is a bit overdone in places and lacks a bit of depth.

Thanks man! Can't wait to get this all finished and take a nice entire-collection picture.

Thanks.
I have nothing to my defense. This is a basic (lowest) level I paint on and I took a shortcut when it comes to OSL. Decided that overall effect and strong accent on the gaming board will trump over the top, flat solo close up. Overall I do agree and I hate cutting corners, yet this is something I had to do to stay within this project's budget.

Hey folks,

I have finished two heroes for the army.

Scoria's base is such a huge chunk of resin. I wander how people transport this piece. I decided to leave it loose, so it gets packed separately. Maybe a strong magnet in the Scoria's underside and the base would be a good solution for gaming. Any ideas?
