I've been trying to buy certain Drukhari from GW and other locations and they've been sold out for at least two months. What is going on?

Well there's this little thing called Covid that's kind of messing up supply chains rn and GW has said quite a few times they've been struggling with production.

If they still produced product in Glen Burnie MD this wouldn't be as big an issue. Do they produce in Memphis or just ship?

It absolutely would still be as big of an issue, because Glen Burnie produced metals not plastics.

Memphis has been a warehouse for going on a decade, at least, now.

Oh also?
It would be still a big problem. Shipping/distribution here in the US has been royally screwed for the past two years, after a certain someone's attempt to royally shaft the USPS hit the major "shipping" companies.

Honestly it's been exactly the same situation in the UK - most Drukhari units have been nigh impossible to get hold of since the codex was released.

Believe me, having production based in your country hasn't helped one bit on this occasion.

GW have been struggling with their supply chain since at least the release of 9th edition. I put in a large Necron order soon after the release of their codex and it took more than 4 months before tomb spyders came back into stock and got shipped to 3rd party retailers. At one stage almost the entire Necron range was marked out of stock on their own web store.

Probably a mixture of COVID, increased demand for hobby products during COVID and issues at GWs own warehouse (they wanted to move to a larger one, I'm not sure whether they did and are having issues with the transition or it got put on hold and the old one is at capacity). With Drukhari having just had a codex and being rather strong it is their turn to sell out.

If you are putting in an order and want stuff urgently make sure everything on the order is currently in stock with your chosen supplier. I normally place a separate order for anything out of stock and resign myself to being patient.

I’ve noticed almost the entire Forgeworld US website is not getting restocked and many of the kits from LOTR/The Hobbit are not getting restocked on GWs US website.

And a failed ERP integration. They're just coming out the other end of the issue apparently, so, once pre-orders aren't overloaded regular stock will come back.

They were the most busted release since IH, it's not a surprise that every powergamer and their mother went out and bought up every little thing.

Add to that all GW's normal problems with inventory since covid and their botched warehouse inventory system and it's no surprise they're totally sold out everywhere.

Now that DE got nerfed, lots of these people will presumably drop them like a hot potato, and the situation should improve as soon as GW can get some new plastic made.

Blood knights, vampire lord, crimson court, etc... some of these kits went from pre-order to out of stock online. How long are they going to use COVID as an excuse for not producing product? I’d assume they knew Brexit was coming eventually right? It wasn’t exactly a surprise. How long are we going to give this company a pass for being incompetent with producing and stocking their product?

GW has no incentive to underproduce, this is one thing I am 100% sure they are trying to fix as fast as humanly possible...because the one thing GW really, really, really cares about is making as much money as possible.

That said, people *aren't* giving them a pass. Recasters are casting 24/7 trying to keep up with the demand for out of stock products that people would be buying from GW if they could, but they can't, so they're getting them elsewhere. No comment from me on the morality of that, it's just a statement of fact: when GW runs out of stuff, the grey market steps in to fill the need. Which GW is very aware of.

It's a long list of issues starting with Covid, going to Indomitus re-issue, to Brexit (which has many more problems past GW directly thanks to how poorly the British government handled it), to the canal blockage, to them needing to make AoS 3.0 boxes.

GW screws up a fair few things but they've been dealing with a snowball snafu that lead to them shutting down orders for two weeks just to try and get caught up on outstanding orders.

This. All day this. If they don't make sales targets you can imagine that'll sit poorly with their shareholders.

Join the club. I ordered about 300$ worth of Lumineth from my FLGS in March and it still hasn't shipped yet. Pandemic, Brexit, Worker Shortages, international relations with China being piss poor (especially now with the potential of Covid being a lab leak). I think it's gonna be like this for a long time to come, likely into next year. Heck, GW isn't alone. I just now got my Venator for the Clone Wars stuff from FFG and that's after a four month delay. My CIS ships are still listed as PENDING.

Have you tried looking for the stuff you want on Amazon? Sometimes I can find decent deals on there for things I'm trying to get.

I wont' say too much because I don't want to get super political on this, but yeah, watching from the outside Brexit has been eye opening. I hope that all gets sorted out soon. For everyone's sake.

Ok Daed, I missed one, you got me. Looks like I misspelled "canal" too. Dysartes is going to get me on that one.....

Most of this stuff was already sold out before the codex was even out. So no one knew where to chase that dragon.

Well before. I was looking for some necron units before the price rise that spring (well before 9th), and lots of things were out. Things going out of stock hasn't been unusual for about a year and a half now.
Its partly a slew of events, but I suspect some is also prioritization. They constant stream of 'new stuff' takes precedence.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

DE was low on the "need to make models" and has had many units sold out long before the codex was even announced.

Fair. So it's likely people's Covid shopping ran the stock down and built up back orders leading to them not being able to be able to keep things in stock. Or so I assume from the outside blindly looking in.

I was waiting for some items for months last autumn. Weeks is nothing.

Basically GW is having supply issues. They can't produce fast enough to meet demand. (if GW was following capitalism fully they would up the prices right away. Supply<demand=prices up. Luckily GW isn't that evil).>

the TLDR is, everything drukhari was Out of Stock before the first rules previews came out, the only way to get anything drukhari was the piety and pain box, the combat patrol box, and the drazar box.

Those are now also OOS obviously, but just something to bear in mind given the accusations of "gw made army OP to get sales."

They've literally nerfed the army before theyve gotten ANY sales out of their op rules.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Also don't forget there's a worldwide shipping container shortage in addition to all the other BS. Multiple industries worldwide are seeing various shortages and supply chain and logistical issues -- the two issues are intertwined. Supply chain and logistical issues cause shortages and delays, not just factories in China shutting down.

Believe me GW wants to make the amount of product they think they can sell.

There are no conspiriacies with this. It's Hanlon's Razor.

There's just a whole world full of dumb people messing things up and we're seeing the fruits of their dumb labor.

Yeah, this is worth remembering as an example the next time someone posts a 'GW is deliberately doing 'x' (insert nefarious thing here) for money'. I have my issues with the way GW do things, and they do charge a lot for their plastic, but they aren't as mercenary as some would like to believe.

There was a very compelling analysis not so long ago, where someone had worked out that, adjusted for wages and inflation, the hobby's actually effectively gotten cheaper since back in the day when I started around the end of first, start of second edition.

I'm not sure to be honest. I thought it was something I'd read on a forum, but it may have been this or have been a post referencing this. I remember being surprised and finding the information interesting, but in truth I have a few cognitive issues and my memory especially isn't always as reliable as I often think it is.

they've been winning something like 70% of games at competitive events I bet loads rushed out to buy them for that reason.

Probably didn't expect gw to Jeff them so fast though.

There won’t be nothing on eBay, aside maybe for wracks. Drukhari are still the best faction so far, the one with the most tools to win the game in two or three turns.
They are just slightly above instead of being far above the rest, is all. It is still the EZ mode faction. They probably won’t stay top dog for very long though, I am eager to face the new ad mech, there is some potential violence there I think, even if the codex doesn’t look that powerful at first glance

Um, probably until Covid lockdowns aren't a thing in the UK anymore?

As for Brexit, I don't know if you've been keeping up with the news, but even here in the States as a casual news reader I can tell you that it was a giant cluster-mess, with many, many businesses left absolutely scrambling because rules and regulations kept changing at the last minute. That will wreak havoc on anybody, much less any sort of corporation that ships their products worldwide from the UK.

And really "giving this company a pass for being incompetent"? Grow up - they're plastic toy soldiers. The game will still be around in 6 months to a year even if you aren't able to get all the shiny new toys right now this very minute.

Yeah, I only found 20+ pages of stuff....
If I were in the market for Drukari/Dark Eldar I'd have zero trouble ordering up a typical meta list.
What I didn't see? Hardly any of the court figures - the Medusai, the snake guy, etc
