I am participating in the Bot War Painting Challenge

Day 01:
Before and After
Toothpick bases worked well for spraying from below, two wings on one stick did not. Foam block was less hassle than clips.

Day 02:
Before and After

Day 03:
Before and After

Day 04:
Before and After
Discovered that my priming ended up creating a rough coat on a couple pieces, but I like how it takes contrast paint.

Day 05:
Before and After

Day 06:
Before and After
Light purple came out much darker than I envisioned, so not what I wanted, but not a bad look either.

Day 10:

Day 14:
Before and After
I did not have the materials for clear coat and final assembly, so primed more models instead.

Another year, another paint challenge. Wish I could say the pile of shame is decreasing, but my collection keeps growing.

Day Zero: It's prime time
Rattle canned and brushed over any missed spots. Used the wrong rattle can brown, so brushing took two coats. Black covered extremely well, and leadbelcher looked a little funky before brushing.

Day 01
Almost got ahead of myself trying to paint the tracks without washing the drive wheels. Did get most of the tan pieces washed. Road wheels on the tracks ate more time that I'd like, and I noticed I neglected a couple pieces that I set aside earlier. Those got primed and toothpick mounted off the clock. With only a half hour to paint, I find myself "burdened" with a surplus of unallocated hobby time... Might have to convert something else for the paint pile to fix that.

Day 02
Finished Agrax Earthshading the Ushabti Bone parts and began Leadbelching, starting with the tracks. The hardest part of batch painting on the clock is not being able to gauge individual model paint time to project unit completion.

Day 03
More leadbelcher on the tracks and tank details. Took a fair bit of time, but not much to show for it. On set of attached tracks to go, so tomorrow should look more impressive.

Day 04

Even more leadbelcher. In retrospect, these D-Tanks are not a shortcut to meeting the quota, unlike their challenge ineligible RSN counterparts.

Day 05

Half an hour of painting metal details, and little to show for it. Conversely, what little clean up was need, has been taken care of.

Day 06

Finished the initial Leadbelcher application on tan minis. Initially, I was planning to save Stomp for after I fill the challenge quota, but as tracks seemed to cause me more grief than Bots, the satisfaction of phase completions was worth the deviation. Next up, COILS metals. I am hoping those prove more photogenic as the before and after images thus far have not shown the relative progress well.

Day 07

Another half hour closer to getting the metallic bits painted. At least the work shows up on camera. I aim to finish said bits in the next session. As for all the non painting hobby time this weekend, I feel another conversion coming on, although I might not include the results in the challenge.

Day 08

Still not done leadbelching. Cleaned up a couple poorly primed spots on the turrets afterwards. I will not have my latest conversion primed in time to get in on this batch, but I think I will go back and add a metallic base ring to the turrets.

Day 09

Added a modified turret to the queue and forgot about the some metal bits on Mole, so more of that to look forward to. I have a “scenic base” in mind for that turret, but it is 3rd party so I will paint it off the clock and can base clear in the meanwhile if need be. Might take a break from heavy batching and do clear colors on the Special Branch mobiles next.

Day 10

Finished the metal bits on Mole and got a layer of clear red on Cyclone.

Day 11

Prepared for lighter color application with a base layer of white.

Day 12

Took about as long to contrast as it did to base white. Only a wash and clear coat remaining for theses units.

Day 13

Another layer of white on COILS in preparation for colors tomorrow.

Day 14

Colorized the remainder of the readied COILS

Day 15

Deathshroud Clear is more clear than Deathshroud. Had to split my half hour into multiple coats with the remainder going to touching up Leadbelcher on Convoy. Then touching up the clear red with contrast paint by accident and over-coating it with Angron Clear Red to blend it back in. The bottom of the sides and doors must get less shiny form all that road dust building up on them...

Day 16

Air Corvus Black did not want to cover the Leadbelcher so it took all of the half hour to do 3 Special Branch cars.

Day 17

Finished painting black on the wheeled vehicles, repainted the glass and metal bits, and added identification stars afterwards.

Day 18

Dipped COILS off the clock as no applicator was involved. For today’s tracked half hour I ‘Ardcoated’ the Democracy identification stars and got more black down on Democracy armor. That 4th color can be annoying to shoehorn in when all I do is base coat and wash.

Day 19

White with a bit of metallic touch up followed up with a non timed satin clear coat for previously dipped units. The dip came out good in some places, and too heavy in others, unlike what my undocumented test suggested. Will have to brush vehicles instead of dipping going forward.

Six turrets, displayed in two platoons, one also shown with an alternate "base," and an Anti Bot Missile Truck are complete.

Day 20

‘Ardcoated the clear paint parts for protection during brushing on dip and painted most, if not all browns. One paint time time was up, I brushed satin finish onto the remaining COILS vehicles and applied dip to models ready for finishing.

Day 21

Not a motivated day, mostly odds and ends in black, white, and brown to get the vehicles ready for dipping. More of the same will have to follow tomorrow.

Day 22

More clean up work today.

Day 22

A little bit of touch up, and mostly painting red. Satin coated the previously dipped Democracy vehicles and brushed dip onto the ones I finished today. Vyper, Mole, and ABT Drone are complete.

Day 24

Only the did the blacks on Stomp for my half hour today. Assembled Firefly for priming. Freedom Eagle II, Interceptor, Armadillo, Cyclone, Transport, Squirrel, and Mongoose are complete.

Day 25

Fort the metered 30 minutes I lightened up the lights on Democracy vehicles and did the browns with black and metallic touch up on Stomp. Thereafter Stomp got a dip brushing while Firefly was primed and painted Democracy got satin coat before moving to final assembly.

Defiance, Defender, Destroyer, Desert Strike, Honey Badger, and a D-Chassis missile tank are complete.

Day 26

All over wash followed by some black and metallic that will need touching up tomorrow.

Day 27

Did the eyes and crest light followed by a satin coat on Stomp and some clean up on along with more black and metal on Firefly. Still have to do the missiles and maybe add some brown before I can mote to finishing.

Day 28

Finished painting Firefly and brushed on the quickshade dip, no time to satin coat but still table ready. Based Stomp after time ran out. I have exceed my goals for the challenges, although I was liberal in what work does not count against the daily allotment.
