Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

It would have made better sense to make the entire sheet chapter symbols and rely on other sheets for generics.
It is not like these will be commonly available. Once you have done a few squads and a tank or two it is over.

Sometimes GW just doesn't think it through.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Its their current White Dwarf Chapter, been in a couple of issues so far.

Actually surprised they came out with a transfer sheet for them so fast.

Not a big fan of marines but dig the Keepers. Got a small kill team at the moment...

Only niggle is the lack of an upgrade sprue with lots of open books. Would be champion if they did that.

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

There's a rumour that GW are going to start printing transfers in-house, at the new factory/warehouse site - this could be a test run of that.

This is kind of cool, insofar as it suggests that we might see more of this kind of thing in the future.

If you don't have any love for Tome Keepers but have a Marine force than needs transfers?
Never going to please everyone but I guess you please even less if your freebie is hyper focused to only that one chapter.

They probably planned them out for a long time. Unless it was some fan voted on thing and the Tome Keepers were chosen as the poster boys

Well I say fast, as I thought they were a fun little side project of White Dwarf, they had an Index Astartes in WD 458, so they have been floating around for a while. I can't recall if that was the first time they showed or why GW made them mind. Also I recall they had another article, I have a feeling they might be being used to promote the Crusade stuff, but not 100%

I really hope that’s true; transfers for different chapters/regiments/septs/cults/klans, etc. is a great way to support variety in the game, is something that’s not easy for people to do at home (it’s a faff and there are some technical limitations, e.g. white) and if they’ve got the kit to make them in house it should be easy to do small runs as and when they need stock, almost to the extent of print on demand.

Weren’t the Horus Hersey transfers done by Andy’s daughter or something like that? Maybe this has been planned for a while, but like with all other things got put on a major hold due to Covid restrictions and trying to keep production up on other items.

It is very easy to find decal sheets of generic Astartes squad markings. Chapter markings for all but a handful of chapters are far more difficult to source.
I don't care a fig about Tome Keepers, but if I did I would need to beg a lot of transfer sheets and hoard them in order to plan an army build.

It wouldn't create any salt to make a transfer sheet entirely of a subfactions specific iconography, its a freebie take it or leave it, but at least then it would be a useful freebie. There is more than enough space for Tome Keeper icons for a whole company, plus vehicles of various sizes, you your even include a couple of supersize ones to fit installations, a Thunderhawk or some such. I would still recommend getting hold of a second sheet as a backup but it would be a reasonable open door to the faction.
Meanwhile generic transfer sheets can be found accompanying many boxsets.

I kind of agree you would need icons more than the generic markings, unless this is to be sold later as its own thing?

The problem with such specific sheet is that it will only be useful for a minority of WD buyers.

I would rather see fun things like Orc tattoos, propaganda posters, grafittis etc...

Something like that. The move has had loads of issues, even before Covid - the local power grid being maxed out by the metro so they couldn't get enough power is a big one I remember.

I'm fine with this sheet, but if it's true they'll be able to do a lot more of these with in house printing then a sheet of posters or graffiti like the Necromunda sheet that sold out immediately would be a really good offering too.

That seems the sort of thing you check before building a factory...

I've just had a google for the original article but can't find it - IIRC there's a substation next to the factory site that they were told would be fine, but when they tried to get hooked up to it they discovered the metro expansion had maxed it out. But yeah, they should have been 100% sure of getting the power they needed.

I belive when they initially applied for planning permission for the build it wasn't an issue, but in the gap beween that and getting it done the metro expanded (is expanding?) and so extra power has be set aside for it.... in theory it isn't an issue of lack of power, it's an issue of the underground cabling in the whole area not being able to handle the amount needed so in theory the power distribution company should be able to upgrade/add more but getting that done with all the digging up of streets that would be needed (and to be frank their glacial slowness), it's going to be ages

It fine to do this sheet as a freebie on White Dwarf or a chapter that is currently highlighted by the magazine.

If GW did something more general like Orc clan iconography and only put it on a White Dwarf cover and then it disappeared I would not be happy. I could imagine in the future asking someone where they got Blood Axe decals from and be told they were on White Dwarf 473 and then disappeared never to be about again, bar ebay gougers.

Propaganda posters would be cool too.

I just find it a bit odd that they can casually throw this in with WD but so criminally underprint Specialist Games decals that people have to wait years for a reprint and pay more than their weight (the decals, not the buyers) in gold.

I don't see this as a problem so much as it meaning it should be easy for that rare person actually wanting them to source more than they actually need from their group/club/store or the internet.
