So, ran across exorcisms the other day and it got me thinking (and, yes, this is related to the writing I'm doing mentioned in my other thread).

I read the blurb on the wiki, but is there a specific ritual involved or does it vary from region to region or whatnot? Also, it mentioned generic pain and suffering. Would that be a physical pain primarily or more a psychological/spiritual? Or all together?

Also, the page mentioned abilities to some extent, but was oddly vague, yet specific. Sensing paths through warp storms, finding warp taint, hunting psykers, reading minds, etc. Would possession allow low level psyker abilities essentially? Or more like a sort of psuedo psyker ability?

Probably will have more questions later, but this is what's on my mind at the moment.

The piece you're missing is that the entire article on exorcism is based on an Advanced Package a player can select for their Dark Heresy character, to play an Exorcised. Here are the mechanical benefits for some reference:

-Reduce your character's fellowship to 10 as they become cold and disassociated.
-Reduce your character's wounds by 1d5 for the wracking effects of the exorcism.
-Gain 2d10 insanity points from sharing their mind with a daemon.
-Gain psyniscience +10 as the character can sense the movement of the warp around them.
-Gain the Fearless, Dark Soul, and Resistance (Psychic Powers) Talents.
-The character is immune to Warp Shock and halves all Corruption Points gained from any source.
-The character is immune to the mutating effects of Corruption.
-Any Daemonic Talents the character has acquired are lost permanently.
-Any Dark Pact the character had, and any boons granted by a Dark Pact are lost permanently.

Okay, so its an RPG class. Legit didn't realize that, but that makes a lot of sense and it looks like its kind of set up as one foot in each door. Also looks like there's a good amount of artistic license for pretty much... all of it, so that's good. May just take it and run with it.

The Exorcists become possessed and then have to exorcise themselves in order to be accepted into the chapter. I don't know if there are some specifics on how exactly this happens.
