I've been looking for an alternative to a weirdboy, checked some previous threads on here and reddit, and there's no general consensus on a cheap alternative. I hate the 40k model, and don't feel like paying 30 bucks for an AOS one when
A) It'd probably require a decent bit of conversion to look more 40k.
B) I don't want to spend that kind of money on a model that really doesn't do much but stand in the back and roll some dice.
I'm willing to spend a bit more on characters that are going to be noticed on the board and will get into combat, I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a model my opponent probably won't even look at.

I've glanced at Mantic, Artel, and Kromlech, but haven't really seen anything. Is there something decent I missed, or is there another company you'd recommend? And no, I don't really like the new laser eye model either, and if he is sold as an individual model and not with the hinted at squig chariot he'll be $30+.

There is a wyrd boy (called wurr boy) coming for beasts snaggas sub faction so maybe he would be a good choice? https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/06/28/meet-the-ork-psykers-who-turn-mighty-heroes-into-measley-squigs/

Go for conversions!!

My two weirdboys are regular nobz put on 40mm with converted big choppa into a stick. Add extra details from the bitz box or ask bitz from a friend or search on sites that sell bitz to characterize the model(s) and job's done. 100% GW plastic, 100% WYSIWYG, same dimensions of the original models and appropriate bases, so they will be ok even for events.

With a single box of nobz you can have 5 characters for cheap. I've made two weirdboyz, big mek with KFF, big mek with SAG and banner nob out of that kit. And most of the times they look better than the original counterparts! Painboy is also easy to make and the original looks very silly.

I suppose that is probably my best option, I do have I think 1 more nob I haven't assembled, I already made a big mek with KFF and 2 warbosses that I beefed up with extra parts (one has ogryn arms). Did you do any specific kinds of bitz on it?

Don’t know if it’s still in production, but I have a Avatars of War shaman as a weird boy.

Bummer, I really like that model but it's no longer on their website.

Savage Orcs?

Here's a definite shaman/shaorc there and the rest could be modified pretty easily to be ork boyz or other weird boys.
