What do you think, part of me wants to buy th model because it’s ltd and I want to start my necrons soon and I like the ball thing he’s holding and have some nice ideas of how to paint it.

But I also think it’s probably quite small for the money and the rest of the model isn’t really that different or interesting compared to the rest of the necron models

What do you think?

There are four other Necron Lord models which have resurrection orbs (Command Barge, 4th edition, plastic Overlord, Finecast Overlord).

Sadly there is nothing at all resplendent about Hasmoteph. He's probably the worst Necron Lord model which GW have ever released.

If you like the model and want to pay 25 bucks for a single character, or if you're a collector anyway, go for it. He'll be more expensive later than now.

I have saved that staff thru the years and even now it caps my Indomitus Overlord’s staff.

The 2nd edition Lord is much better than Hasmoteph.
I have two of him.

on the forum. Obviously

Well, I like his hat more than the silly baby bonnet crests on the other overlords.
Would I spend 25 on him when I already have more characters than I know what to do with?
No...

Man, that has to be the least-inspired model I've seen since the DE resculpt HQs.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

He's the least generic HQ model Necrons have. My only problem with him is that his face is ugly and him holding a res orb. I am just too poor to invest money in him right now, maybe I'll pick up one on ebay when Necrons hit bottom tier again.

{shrugs} He's the same price as any other character.... And, Necron or otherwise, there's ones who look worse for the same $.

*His face looks a bit goofy. I could fix that I'm sure.
*Otherwise I like the rest of the model.

Working against the purchase is that I already own 4 or 5 generic lords throughout the editions & 2 scratch builds. And a bazzilion other HQ choices.
So I'm leaning towards skipping him.

If you are looking at him for gameplay reasons, he's a hard pass. As others mentioned, you'll end up with more overlords than you need from other boxes. If you love the sculpt, sure. IMO, the head is ugly and the head is the defining feature of the sculpt. If you are going to do a head swap, you are better off just kitbashing one of the other more readily available overlords.

On a non-related note, it looks like they changed the shape of the sprues.

Rounded sprue is the same than Space Marine Heroes Series models and couple of recent miniatures that were intended for events (Lietenant Amulius, Lexicanum Varus and Terminator Chaplain Tarentus). They are Easy-to-build models that require neither glue or clippers, you can twist the parts from the sprue with your fingers.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

it all depends if you're a collector/plays that army/fond of the model or not, personally I'm not a fan of either model, I don't play either army, nor would I collect them.

I think if you just cut his head (Which is super easy to do) and Position it Facing forward, he's fine.

I think him much better than my CCB overlords. I'm going to pick up 2, one for holding a staff of light and the other I'm going to make holding a scythe.
