As always, 2 days to pick a theme. Your options for August are:

Rebel Scum: Heroic feedom fighters, dissident cultists following dark powers, sinister organisations plotting from the shadows; wherever there is authority, there are those who will challenge it. Your entry should incorporate such individuals or groups.

"Smashing!": For some tasks, guile and cunning can achieve success. For everything else, there's always the option of grabbing the biggest axe/wrench/log to hand and battering down any opposition! Your entry should feature models capable of defeating their enemies through a healthy application of brute force and ignorance.

Be Brave: Courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to overcome it. The greatest warriors stand indomitable in the face of terror and hold their ground against most fearsome foes. Your entry should feature such stalwart and unyeilding individuals.

Honour Bound: Whether knightly vows, pledged servitude or zealous commitment to some greater cause, your entry should feature individuals who are called to battle by some oath or creed beyond simple duty or pragmatism.

As always, I could find something for any of these. I went with Rebel Scum to force me to work on the Maelstrom's Edge Broken I assembled around the beginning of the year.

Now showing Samurai Marines!

Painting total as of 3/18/2024: 14 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Need to get more Dark Angels done, so had to vote for Honor Bound. I could probably figure something out for the rest if I had to though.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Rebel scum for me. I have some goblins for D&D that need a paintjob. I figure competition might be the motivator I need.

Thought I could keep working on my Dark Angels, but it looks like it's gonna be Rebel Scum.
I have some other stuff left that might fit, but it's gonna be something very different for me.

One thing I like about this contest is how it pushes us out of our comfort zones. That’s where the growth is.

Jeez looks like rebel scum is going to win hands down. Guess I'll be painting my maloghurst earlier than planned.

How original...

Honestly Rebel Scum is the one category that I basically have nothing for. I'll have to dig deep. Of course, I likely won't even have time to paint anything that isn't directly connected to my upcoming return to 40k tournament play, so it may be a moot point.

During the last All Space Marine challenge, one entry was a unit of Eldar Shining Spears, one of whom had a Space Marine impaled on its spear. If you have any CSM stuff left, you could use it to decorate a large base or something. I, for one, would be willing to count that.

The best place for rebel scum is base decorations for victorious loyalists.

That was actually mine, although I think QAR would've done a very cool take on her as well! Much moodier than I would have approached it, I think!

Wow Rebel Scum kind of just shot up overnight, huh? I'll have to give it a solid think for what I want to paint.

I’m going to have to make sure The Chaplain is securely locked in the display cabinet for the month.

The Codex does not approve of this action.
