Hi guys, I've got a Dimarcheon I am trying to base. I'm trying to fix the "Lava Game" pose, it looks like he is trying to step on things to avoid touching the ground.

I am trying to make it look like he stepped on and broke the rock but it's not there yet. How should I fix it?

I'd say the main thing to do is add more stuff.

Right now there are just a couple of raised objects (rocks/ruins) on the base, which it happens to be standing on. So they stick out, and it does look a bit strange that it decided to plant its feet on both of them.
But if they're made to be simply a couple among many similar objects all over the base (and not just around its feet), then its foot positioning should look much less deliberate.

If you want a broken rock look you need all the pieces to look like they join together to make one whole, and also have hard/sharp edges on the inside of the break.

Rounded edges such as you have there makes it look like the rock broke years ago and has been 'softened' up by erosion.

I think this will be a difficult technique to achieve realistically tbh.

I'd suggest either the same as Arson; filling the base with such rocks so it doesn't look weird that he's picked those to stand on.

Or removing the rocks entirely and just having him stand on the ground.
Should be easy enough to cut/sand down the rocks on his feet, you might want to pin him to the base then though.
Alternatively you could build up the base to submerge the rocks, although that could lead to a weirdly tall hill. Perhaps a bit of both.

Overall it depends on what would tie in with the rest of your army best.

Good points and advice.

I wonder if it would look more realistic if I added some GS to the rocks to make harder edges... might try it just to see.

The other option is I found this. I am not sure how breakable it is and if I could break it and use it as a crushed rock:

I've seen people cast plaster rocks and then shatter them. It's definitely a plausible idea, not sure how tough 'cement slate' is though.

Could you also maybe cut down the chunks he is standing on to be flatter?

Also - you'd probably expect the bit actually under his foot to be broken, rather than the bits around where he's treading...
