Example Ork scrapjet under " weapon" has 3 options. Rockit cannon, wing missile, twin big shoota. Can i take all of thoes 1 at a time ? Or can i only pick 1 and thats it?. Does it cost me anything to use these weapons that comes in the datasheet profile?.

The entry for the unit reads:
Every model is equipped with: rokkit kannon; 2 twin big shootas; wing missiles; nose drill.
None of these weapons got additional point costs listed, so a single Scrapjet costs you 90 points AND includes all of them.

And i choose only 1 off thoes weapon to shoot with? per turn? or can i choose 2 twin big shootas and after thoes are done i continue with wing missiles?.

You can shoot as many weapons as you have provided you meet the conditions set out by the weapon type section.

So, if you have a pistol, you can shoot any pistol you have, or anything else. If you advanced, you can't shoot anything except Assault Weapons. If you have a heavy weapon and moved, you have a penalty to hit. If you have a Rapid Fire weapon, there are bonus shots at shorter ranges.

So you could have a pistol, an assault weapon, a rapid fire weapon and a heavy weapon and fire the pistol, or everything else. If you advanced, you would only be able to fire the assault weapon, and so on.

And there are special rules on top of that, such as anything that isn't Infantry can move and fire heavy weapons without penalty.

So final answer is. I shoot with 2x Twin big Missile and allocate all thoes hits etc and when im done with that weapon i pick Winged missile and shoot with that?. I understand the assault weapon vs pistol thats not my question.

Let's assume you didn't move or just moved your normal movement characteristic, no other special circumstances.

It is now your shooting phase and you pick your Scrapjet to shoot with.

You pick a target for each weapon and then start rolling dice. You can shoot all of them at different targets if you wish. You can shoot everything at the same one as well, if you want.

You declare targets for all of the weapons you're going to shoot this phase. I.e., "rokkit cannon at the intercessors, everything else at the aggressors." Then you do hit/wound/damage rolls for one weapon. Then hit/wound/damage for the next. You have to stick to your previous declared targets, so if you put all your weapons on one guy, and kill him with your first weapon's rolls, the fire from the other weapons is wasted.

If you have multiple of the same type of weapon, and allocate them to the same target, the fast rolling rule lets you roll all of the attacks at once. So your 2x Twin Big Shootas are technically two separate weapons, thus normally you would roll to hit/wound/etc for one Twin Big Shoota, then for the.other. But if both the Twin Big Shootas are shooting the same squad of intercessors, you can combine them into one set of hit rolls, wound rolls and so on, for the sake of convenience.

I would love to know GWs rationale behind the limit on the pistol. It just seems so.... arbitrary.

I mean, I can shoot 3 different rocket launchers, a pair of bolt rifles, chuck a spear, + use this additions newest zippity-zap gun on someone (most of these things requiring at least two hands to use, if not a crew in some armies), all at different targets, WHILE MOVING, and then charge into melee where I swing a chainsaw at you x7.
But add in that pistol? Oh no, that's too much. NOW there's some kind of rule/limitation needed....

They wanted Marines to have pistols but didn't want Marines firing both their bolter and bolt pistol when at short range. Other factions? What other factions?

I think it stems from GW liking the image of a dude firing his pistol in the middle of melee scrum, an so they have pistols that rule, and handed them out to units expected to engage in melee combat. But as they started releasing infantry models that had like three or more shooty bits strapped to their codpiece, they realized the same rule that let a beefy boy shoot flamethrowers with each hand while spraying frag grenades from his nipples, allowed the rank and file to shoot bolter and bolt pistol at the same time. Which is more X-treme than they are allowed to be. Hence, "you can shoot five big guns at once, and you can shoot three pistols at once, but you WILL NOT shoot a pistol and a big gun at the same time."

The idea is you’re busy fending off someone in close combat and can only wildly blast away with a pistol at point blank range, and don’t have hands spare to aim unwieldy guns. Not too hard to rationalise, tbh, in the grand scheme of 40K ridiculousness.

I think at its most basic, GW wanted to keep the rules for shooting weapons simple by allowing all models to fire all their weapons. They only backtracked on that for Pistols (many models are armed with both pistols and rifles, but they didn't intend for them to use both) and Grenades (full units tossing grenades would be unbalancing).

For the most part, the rules make it impossible for most units to have multiple rifle-type weapons unless their is something special that would allow them to use both. You can't give a Space Marine two bolters, but you can give multiple Burst Cannons to a Crisis Suit.

Thus we have a you can fire all your pistols but only fire pistols rule (not many models can have more than 2 pistols) along with a one model can throw a grenade but it can only fire a grenade that phase rule.

Umm... he more meant outside of melee. Why the pistol can't be used when, if you had them, you could fire 10 machine guns at once.

Ultimately what alex said is right - it was done to avoid squads with rifles and pistols firing both every turn. Not sure that everyone using grenades would be unbalancing, but again it's the same rationale as the pistol usage.

I have had cause to think about these rules when picking a space marine Bike unit.

EDIT: just checked, and they dodn't have the vehicle keyword, so all my points are invalid, ignore post

100% agreed.

Its still ridiculous that a scout bike sarge can fire his twin boltgun, astartes shotgun, both profiles from his combi gun, while driving at full speed, but a space marine cant fire his bolt gun and bolt pistol who remained stationary.

No more ridiculous than Power swords, Las weapons, Plasma weapons, Tyranids, Orks, Dreadnoughts, Psykers, etc...

Do not try to bring realism into a fantasy/sci-fi setting, it never ends well.

The rules were not written to be "Modern day real world" logical. It is a rules system, an abstract system used to play a game by those rules.

If you are going by what is ridiculous , then over 90% of the game is ridiculous , as most of it can not really happen.

Not to thread jump...my memory is a bit faulty....can all pistols fire in melee??? For some reason I keep thinking Plasma pistols cannot.

Thanks

Any weapon with the pistol type can be fired even if that model is within Engagement Range of enemy units.
