DECURION DETACHMENT
The Necron Decurion Detachment is a special type of Detachment that can be included in any Battle-forged army. Unlike the Detachments shown in Warhammer 40,000: The Rules, it has a Force Organisation Chart whose slots are a combination of singular Army List Entries and combined Army List Entries instead of Battlefield Roles.

COMMAND COST: 6CP

Restrictions: All units must be from the NECRONS faction. This Detachment cannot include any Understrength units.

Command Benefits: +3 Command points if your WARLORD is part of this Detachment.

Dedicated Transports: Can include 1 for each NECRON WARRIORS unit taken.

0-1 ROYAL COURT (1 OVERLORD or PHAERON, 0-2 LYCHGUARD units, 1-3 LORDS, 1-3 CRYPTEKS, 1-3 CRYPTOTHRALLS, 0-1 CONVERGENCE OF DOMINION)

1 RECLAMATION LEGION (1 ROYAL WARDEN, 0-1 LYCHGUARD units, 1-4 IMMORTAL units, 2-8 NECRON WARRIOR units, 1-3 TOMB BLADE units, 0-1 MONOLITH, 0-2 NIGHT SCYTHES, 0-1 C'TAN, 0-3 CANOPTEK REANIMATORS)

1-10 of the following in any combination:
- 1 DEATHMARKS unit
- 1 FLAYED ONES unit
- ANNIHILATION NEXUS (3 QUANTUM SHIELDING units)
- BALEFUL NECROPOLIS (1 OBELISK or GAUSS PYLON, 0-2 MONOLITHS, 0-3 SENTRY PYLONS unit)
- CANOPTEK HARVEST (1 CANOPTEK SPYDERS unit, 1 CANOPTEK WRAITHS unit, 1 CANOPTEK SCARABS unit, 0-1 CANOPTEK ACANTHRITES unit)
- DEATHBRINGER FLIGHT (2+ FLYERS)
- DESTROYER CULT (1 DESTROYER CULT CHARACTER, 3 SKORPEKH DESTROYERS units, 3 OPHYDIAN DESTROYERS units or 3 LOKHUST DESTROYERS units, 0-1 HEAVY LOKHUST DESTROYERS, 0-3 CANOPTEK PLASMACYTES)
- JUDICATOR BATTALION (1 TRIARCH STALKER, 2 TRIARCH PRAETORIANS)
- LIVING TOMB (3 CANOPTEK MONSTERS with a Wounds characteristic of 10+, 0-1 SERAPTEK HEAVY CONSTRUCT)

I haven't played my necrons this edition. Can you summarize what the impacts of adding this option would be?

If I'm reading it correctly, it seems like you essentially pay 3CP (-6 + 3) and lock yourself into taking some mandatory immortals, tomb blades, and warriors in order to to unlock a bunch of non-troop slots?

If that's the case, then I guess this either...
A.) Is less or equally cost effective compared to taking existing detachment options; in which case this becomes an irrelevant choice.
Or...

B.) This is more cost effective than existing detachment options (possibly by letting you spam a bunch of units you normally wouldn't have enough slots for).

In the case of B, I'd have two questions: Do necrons need that buff, and is this the best way to address whatever issues are causing them to need a buff in the first place?

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Someone was pining for the old Decurion style detachments in another thread, so I thought I'd add them back, the Decurion being the first to come out and the one I used is naturally the first.

This Decurion Detachment can be used to make armies that are impossible to make using the current detachments. Some armies that can be made using the current detachments cannot be made using a Decurion.

The Decurion is more cost-effective for some armies, but not all, the armies for which the Decurion is more cost-effective have not seen tournament top 4s AFAIK so I don't think it's power creep, the Decurion probably improves internal balance at this point in time. Replacing the regular Detachments with the Decurion would be a net negative for the power of Necrons, adding it would be close to zero benefit because the armies you can make the regular detachments would probably still be stronger. There might have been one Monolith top 4 in a GT, but I don't know if that was just a good dream. I don't believe competitive Necrons lists need a buff, so to the extend these rules did that they will have failed.

In that case, this is probably fine. There's probably something to be said for the benefits of not adding extra rules if they have low impact but add complexity, but meh.
