I attack my opponent and after im done what happens next? Do he attack back on the spot with that unit that got attacked?. Or do he needs to use a stratagem counter offensive 2 cp to be able to attack back.

Short answer: you alternate picking units to activate, so he can choose the unit you just attacked, or he can pick a different one.

Long answer: there is a lot going on in the combat phase, it’s worth sitting down and reading the rulebook a couple times just to get it to click.

First thing to remember is that you must forget how it used to work in previous editions. It sounds like you are familiar with how it used to work in editions from 3rd-7th, but melee completely changed from 8th onwards.

Nowadays, you and your opponent take it in turns picking a unit and fighting with it (and by "fight", I mean "pile in, attack, and then consolidate"). There's more to it and you'll need to read through it all to understand fully, but that's the gist.

I'll echo the call to "Read the rulebook".

It's not the best rulebook, but it should help get the gist across. If you've looked it over and still have specific questions, we can help more then.

Ok so from what i understand in fight phase i charge in, pile in, fight and consolidate. And thats it? My opponent needs to wait for his turn before doing anything?. I tought after meele has been done the opponent gets to attack back in "my phase ". Need to get this done right so im not playing it all wrong. Caus why would there be an stratagem that lets my opponent counter attack otherwise.

In the Charge phase your units charge into combat.

Afterwards in the Fight phase, one by one each unit is activated to fight. This includes both your units and your opponents units.

Units that performed a charge get to go first.
You activate a unit, it piles in, makes attacks, then consolidates.
Then you move to the next unit that charged, and repeat.

Once charging units have all been activated, you move onto non-charging units. At this stage, your opponent likely also has units that can fight. So you alternate activating units.
Your opponent gets to pick a unit to fight with first, and then you get to pick one, then back to them, and so on.

This is the basics of the Fight phase.
The Counter Offensive stratagem you mentioned lets you interrupt this order. After a charging unit has fought, the stratagem lets the other player fight with one of their units which would otherwise have had to wait until it's time for non-charging units to fight.

Let's pretend it is my turn.

Step 1 - I do my charge phase. I attempt to charge with all the units im going to charge with, and I make all my successful charge moves.

Step 2 - Starting with me, myself and my opponent are going to alternate with all units that currently have a rule that says they 'fight before all other units.'

The most common way to get to 'fight before other units' is this: If you charged, you get to fight before other units. This means that most commonly, on your turn, you get to fight with all your stuff, before your opponetn gets to fight with a unit.

Some units, and some sub-factions, are supposed to be 'especially fast' - Slaanesh Daemons being a common example - these units would also always fight before other units.

Step 3 - Starting with my opponent, we are going to alternate selecting units that are under the effect of no special rules. Usually, this is the case if you have a close combat that's been going on since your opponent's turn, and there are still models alive in both the fighting units. Again, like all the Fight sub-phases, if my opponent and I both have units that could fight now, we are alternating. If only one of us (say, my opponent, since Ive already fought with all my charging units) has units, they get to go all one after another.

Step 4 - Uncommonly, some abilities will force a unit to fight AFTER all other units. Usually this is because of debuffing abilities like the space marine Judicar, or psychic power debuffs. If we have any units like that on the board, then starting with me and, again, alternating with my opponent if there are multiples, we fight with those units that have been slowed down and must fight last.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
