Hey!

I figured I would ask this here. I thought it had been asked before but search didn't find it.

If I give the Armageddon Regimental Order, Mount Up!*, to a squad that has fallen back, can I shoot and then embark? Probably not, but the order still works and let's me embark, yes?

Similarly, if I am already in combat but there is a transport within 3" and the order is given, can I embark straight out of combat without falling back? What happens?

*Full text of the order:
Mount Up!
Rapid mechanised redeployments are paramount to success in the choking ash wastes of Armageddon.

Until the end of the phase, the ordered unit can shoot and then immediately embark within a friendly ARMAGEDDON TRANSPORT VEHICLE, as long as all models in the unit are within 3" of the vehicle. This order may not be issued to a unit which disembarked in the preceding Movement phase.

I think this is technically possible. However, it will be much more difficult that you think to get a transport within 3" of ALL models in a unit without getting within 1" of any of the enemies (and you cannot embark on a transport that is within engagement range itself). If a unit managed to pull it off then they would not technically be falling back, although I don't think that would matter for anything.

You can normally fall back and embark so I think that part is fine. As for the other part, the order says that you can shoot whilst the fall back rules say that you can't. The only way to satisfy both is by not shooting.

The reason it is important is twofold:

1) it bypasses abilities that prevent fallback
2) it allows an officer that has the Laurels of Command relic to order a unit to Fix Bayonets (fighting again) and then embark and fire the Chimera's lasgun array.
3) if the order is given to a unit in combat with pistols (e.g. a command squad), or if the sergeant has a laspistol, presumably they can shoot their pistols and then embark and shoot the Chimera's lasgun array when the Chimera fires

All of those sound awful, but I think it is allowed by RAW.
