So maybe this is something everyone else already knows and Im just slow on the uptake, but was reading the kommandos rules and noticed this. Snikrot's rule is identical by the way.
Note it does not say for shooting attacks, it just says when the model is
"receiving the benefits of cover."
1.What exactly qualifies as "receiving the benefits of cover"? Does that mean just light/heavy cover with the +1 to armor saves in shooting/melee? Or does it just mean any rules benefit such as Dense cover with -1 to hit from shooting, Defensible terrain where you can gain a bonus to overwatch or
WS if you are charged, etc. Im assuming the former but dont see any reason why the latter is prohibited.
If the latter is true, and it just means any benefit, that means there would be times where Kommandos have a 4+ save for weird moments such as shooting through dense terrain that only gives -1 to hit. Or for example if kommandos were defending against a charge in Defensible terrain and had the option to buff their
WS. They would also have a 3+ in melee anytime they fight in heavy cover, although Im not sure Ive ever seen anyone in my area ever give a terrain piece that rule.
I feel like Im missing an obvious page of a
faq or rulebook that clearly explains how this works but Im not having much luck. I mainly ask because I plan on using a lot of kommandos in a tourney coming up and am trying to get a better grasp of this rule so I dont play it wrong. Thanks.
