What would be your ideal stories to be played out as an animated series? Either a story we know or a story we want to know….

I’d like to see a story that follows an interrogator chaplain in the dark angels and the raven wing tracking down members of the fallen over hundreds of years. Over the series we price together bits of the puzzles that answer some questions about what really happened with the dark angels but ultimately asks more questions that it answers………. (Because cliches are easy to do)

Love to see the Cain novels for 40K and Spear of Shadows or Court of the Blind King for AOS.

A decent slew of AOS stories might even get me to subscribe...

I'd love to see the Cain novels on screen too, I think it's got just the right feel to be a great intro for people not already into 40k. That being said, I honestly think those books would do much better as movies than a TV show.

For my pick, I'd say the Gaunts Ghosts series with a design philosophy similar to how Band of Brothers was presented.

However, I think that the most realistic option is the Horus Heresy. Given how long and cumbersome it all is, I could easily see it being serialized and getting a mountain of seasons that they could milk forever if it's successful.

The dark hollows of Kentucky

ADB's Night Lords trilogy. They need a Chaos centric story, and I can't think of anything better than that one. Let's see some spikey protagonists in the starring roles.

I think a HH series that focuses on all the smaller side books and stories would be a good idea. There's no real drive to get the "right" Horus, Sigismund, or Kurze, just side characters like Camba Diaz or Shadrak Meduson. Nothing super major needs to happen or be shown, there'd be a lot less pressure but it would also allow for some insight into lesser-known events that are often overshadowed by the main sequence of the Heresy.

Also, the Mars trilogy by Graham McNeill... Priests of Mars, Lords of Mars, Gods of Mars.

This would be epic.

Literally anything but the trash that is Cain or Henry Zou and C.S. Goto's stuff.

Ideally, I'd like to see Justin Hill's short stories and Cadian stuff get a shot.

And before I get crucified for despising Cain...

The only way I can see that nonsense working is by being a "true accounting" of the actual events of the Inquisitor as the audio tracks over Cain's antics being shown as the animation.

Out of curiosity, why do you dislike the Cain books so much? Other than the overarching stories basically following the same general mold in most book (meet bad guys, fight, team up or use bad guys against even badder guys) I've never found much to take issue with.

Whilst I have already said how great Cain stories are.......

The other stories I would like to see some of the Mike Brooks novels or the Andy Cain ones - especially Rites of Passage and the Knights novels.

Lastly - whilst Brian Blessed is still about - lets get some Gotrek and Maleneth animation out there!

It's less the books, I guess, and more the people who won't shush about them or try to use them as some kind of lorebible for the game at large.

Cain is, for lack of a better term, one giant example of a meme. The concept of the books is they're over the top and probably full of lies by a coward when they are not corroborated by other evidence. That's the whole point of Vail's "notes".

Unless you actually do it up with the notes poking holes in Cain's self-congratulatory nonsense? It just is one giant "My Commissar's better than your Commissar!" story set.

Wait, some people don't get that that's the point of the story? I mean Vail literally points out several cases where Cain's recollections don't match either her own memories of an incident, or Imperial records (not that those are all that accurate in the first place.) Okay, I could see getting annoyed by that.

For me, one of my favorite things is that weird balance of never knowing what is "true". Cain's honest enough about some of his own issues and faults that you know the story isn't totally false, backed by Amberly's notes. But by that same token, it's intentionally contradictory with other notes of hers and Imperial records so the reader (is supposed to) know that not all of it is accurate. Either based on Cain's own intentional alterations or by the fact that he is recalling all this near the end of his many centuries long life.

If it did turn into a series or movie(s), I don't think it would work without having Amberly as the narrator.

Given the state of Imperial record keeping and knonw distortions they are probably about as accurate as most 40k Lore - agreed there are quite a few occassions where Amberley draws on other sources or flat out says where cain is wrong ( i did wonder if some of them are the authors actual editor/40k people telling him bits are wrong and he keeping them in with the note that they are wrong).

Its a bit like Helsreach which I also love - but there are some notable difference to Codex lore - which is highlighted - ie that he is not the only survivor but the imperial propoganda says he is - the same as the Cain covers show him as he is shown by the same propoganda machines.

I've really been enjoying the warhammer crime stuff, I'd like to see a film noir style cartoon set in Varangantua.

Approx armies
9000pts AdMech (Main army)
7000pts Black Templars (original army)
3500pts Death Guard (lazy side project)
2000pts Imperial Knights (extension of AdMech)
2000pts Harlequins (fun side project)

I'd love to see Deff Skwadron.

Plenty of short stories or novellas out there perfect for the format, to name a few: Severed, Words of Blood, Rose Wishes Talon, the Prince's Tale (okay, that's Age of Sigmar, but a good story to serialize in animated format).

Also seconding the Warhammer Crime stories, there are some good ones out there, just.. not anything by Nick "f-bomb" Kyme please.

Gaunts Ghosts would make an excellent TV series.

The Horus Heresy would be great but not if it followed the books as there are way too many of them. The first 3 would be great as films. Im not sure which ones to include to finish things off though.

Cypher and the Fallen Angels would be awesome - IF the truth was told about them and not the lies of the Dark Angels.

However, given how poorly recieved the Ultramarines move was, id be dubious about anything similar being down. Which is a shame becase computer game cut scenes and promo videos tend to be completely awesome. There have been some great fanfiction videos done, maybe if any of them still live they could be allowed to do something.

Gav Thorpe said some years ago he was working on a Titans book that was based on the plot of The Hunt for Red October - did that ever materialise? not that I would ever read a Gav Thorpe book ever again, but I was interested as I loved the Clancy Book / Film.

Would a TV series of Ciaphas Cain not just be a grimdark version of Space Dandy? Which doesn't sound too horrible...

The various short stories and novelettes that BL puts out I think would be nice. Quick, self contained scripts with maybe a few extended arcs.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?
