Anyone have any ideas to match the blue used in early WW1 French uniforms? Pic showing what I mean below...

Spoiler:

Edit as pointed out not the horizon blue of later war WW1 French.

Maybe Vallejo's 901 Pastel Blue?

Vallejo Field Blue and Grey Blue are usually the go-tos for most people for late war (the darker blue in the first image paired with the red trousers is a completely different color and was really only used in the early war period), usually involves a bit of mixing and layering, vallejo pastel blue is a good highlight if you don't want to mix (or a decent base layer if you want something more vibrant).

This is probably my favorite go at it (scroll down to the bottom comment for tutorial): https://jacksarge.blogspot.com/2016/04/more-boys-in-horizon-blueplus-some.html

Never used them, but AK also makes this: https://ak-interactive.com/product/wwi-french-uniform-colors/?force_isolation=true

So it looks like you would want the colors "FRENCH GREYISH BLUE", and "SPECTRUM BLUE – STANDARD"

There's also the kimera silver Grey. Basically it's a Grey mix with a little blue in it. You could probably make your own with minimal effort.

The lower two in the first pic, with the pantalon rouge, are not 'horizon blue' as in the second pic. The adoption of bleu horizon was in 1915 and corresponds with abandoning the red trousers.

VMC Pastel Blue is a very close match for that second pic. I also have VMC Blue Grey and it's close, but a bit lighter and doesn't have that tiny tinge of purple. Here's an example- Blue Grey, highlighted Pale Greyblue, washed black:

Of course keep in mind that IRL, the color of cloth varied considerably from batch to batch and bleached from exposure to sunlight, so there's a fair bit of variance even on real examples.

Yes i should have been clearer, going for the darker (colonial?) blue of the early war Red trousers bunch.

And while I can paint it one, would really like a pre made spray solution!
