Hello there.
I just went to paint Ahriman, I had primed him about a month ago and then put his individual pieces (I have to paint deconstructed miniatures as I only have one working arm), wrapped in kitchen roll, in the drawer. A drawer that is barely ever opened. He looks like he was in a tumble dryer with rocks! Chips in the primer all over.
My problem is that I do not have a dedicated space for my airbrush booth so I have to prime miniatures in batches and leave them in storage (cupboard or drawer) until I want them. No matter where they are stored I always manage to cause some form of damage, even if minor.
Is there a better way of storing miniatures between minis that will prevent damage to the primer? I'm using Vallejo surface primer, although Ahriman was primed before I had an airbrush so I used Rust-Oleum white primer for plastic.
Question number Deux: while in storage Ahrimans staff was damaged, the little crow/raven skull that hangs from the staff; it snapped off. I've tried using Tamiya extra thin cement but it was really wobbly at the join after 24 hours so I pulled it apart (with barely any resistance) and tried Revell contacta professional; it melted the plastic more but it still isn't forming the solid bond one would expect, it is still wobbling like jelly. Again, thats after 24 hours.
Should I try super glue on it or is there a better option? Maybe the Gorilla glue 2 part epoxy resin I have?
My last question: Ho do you deal with dust and miniatures? I'm not asking how to remove it, that is obvious, I have an old electrical circuit brush with incredibly fine, soft bristles for that. I am wondering if there is anything I can buy that might help to minimise the dust in the first place. It is ruining my hard work when painting minis which is disheartening and it demotivates. The dust settles while I paint as well as while it is in storage, the dust while I paint is ther main issue really, I tried a fan blowing above where I model but it dries the paint really quickly (I already use a wet palette) and I can't think of anything else. My house isn't that old but it is a cheaply built council house, it gets very dusty even though we hoover twice a day.
