Ran across this interview today, and wanted to share in case you haven't heard of her or seen her work. I have really become a fanboi of her moody painting style & her conversions are always very synergistic to her painting style. Something to inspire yall perhaps?
Finished watching the admittedly slow paced interview. My takeaways were these few insights into her work:
• She uses glazes and washes a lot
• Blacklining and highlighting is important in her style so as to not make the dark pieces look "muddy"
• As a finishing touch, she sometimes uses some sort of stippling to bring that grainy flavour to the miniature (always test on a piece of paper first tho)
She also has an art book coming out on Kickstarter. A must buy for me once it's out!
Yo, as much as her painting style is absolutely killer, I ADORE her mini sculpts. Very grim and girtty, but with a slight old-school goofiness that is really pleasing. Glad to see any discussion of her stuff here on Dakka!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Will check out that interview if I get the chance, too! Free time in short supply for me these days...
