Simple question:
Holy Wargear says "This model can never be given any Relics.".

Are "Crusade Relics" from Narrative play considered "Relics" for this purpose?

My two ways of thinking
1. "Relics" with a capital R specifically refer to the regular "Relics" section of your codex. Crusade Relics are an exemption due to wording.

2. It feels RAI that he won't get any further equipment.

Crusade relics arent actually relics. They are just abilities that are called relics for fluff purposes.

So yes, he can take crusade relics.

Maybe as a follow up question: Is the EC considered a named character for the strategem, which grants more than one warlord trait? Can he have two warlord traits (with one being Oathkeeper)?

The Holy Wargear rule would not be needed if he was a named character, as they can't take relics in the first place.

And there is a rules box on the WT page called "Named Characters and the Emperor's Champion" that tells you what traits you have to take.

EC can only take BT traits, but seems totally fine to be affected by that Stratagem.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. I don't have the codex yet and only got the rules from squinting at man-reads-book youtube videos, so I missed those nuances.

Where is the rule that the EC can only take BT traits? Or do you mean as the Heirs of Sigismund strategem only allows BT traits and as the first one must be Oathkeeper?

The box on the WT page I mentioned tells you which traits Helbrecht and Grimaldus have to take.

It also mentions that if the EC is given a Warlord trait, it must be one from the BT table.

So you can make him your Warlord for the free trait, but he still can only choose from the BT table.

EC comes with inbuilt Oathkeeper and the WT box even tells you to re-roll a 6 (Oathkeeper), if you determine your traits randomly.
