Buying and throwing together some boxes of minis for my Carcharodon Ravenguard Successor and I got very little idea of how to play or utilize them, so here’s my questions:
1. What books do I need to buy? I got the 9th edition corerulebook but that’s about it.
2. The list is being work shop but should I run terminators or Assault veterans with claw/shield?
3. I like blade guard but Adsault Veterans kinda do what they do but better?
4. Incursor or infiltrator? I’d probably be running a squad or two of 5.
5. I really don’t like bikes like at all and understand bikes would be good in this list but no, any good substitute for attack bikes?
6. Assault centurions anyway to get more then 3 in a box current list has 18 of em and that’s a lotta money which I’m happy to spend but if I can cut down on it tha would be great!
7. Any tips are appreciated as I have very little idea of what I’m truly doing lol

1) Space Marine Codex and Ravenguard Supplement

2) Currently the prefered choice is Assault veterans with claw/Shields. This could change in January.

3) Yes they do... but again, check what happens in January.

4) Infiltrators have more uses

5) Land Speeders? Honestly I don't understand the purpose of the attack bikes in that list, so it is hard to suggest something to replace them.

6) 18 assault centurions???? Are you sure about what you are doing?

7) Can you provide a bit more detail about what you want to put together? I'm very confused.

I'd suggest you get a bit of everything that you like visually and to avoid skewing.

18 Assault Centurions is a lot of money AND it is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Space marine books are a lot of money because you need to buy them twice as often as anyone else XD anyways yes but what you like visually. As long as it isn’t tactical squads. Just buy one, two boxes max of those. And variate your purchases. Having a diverse collection of models is less boring and it shores you up against a potential nerfing. All the eggs in one basket and all that.

Yeah the assault centurions is a workshopped list they feel really sharky with the big fists and Flamers plus sending them in with the stratagem with Tyberos or a chaplain looks intimidating as hell. Tyberos with assault vets too looks just insane.

The main idea is 3x6 squads of assault centurions , 1x6 squad of assault vets(maybe more), Tyberos and a few others to just BLAM on the board via stratagems and teleportation to have solid turn 1-2 charges and tie up enemies. Meanwhile my infilitrators or incursors will snag an early objective and my 2x5 man of intercessors are meant to hold or push my own objectives. I wanted a really big melee list with some shooting and Ravenguard/space sharks pull this off nicely

Keep in mind going all in on something in gw games is expensive as hell. Sooner or later gw will nerf them to hell. Maybe get op first before but eventually everything goes nerfed

Yep that’s why I made this forum lol to get Ideas of what to put in, in all honesty I have no clue. I’ve got the entire Idomitus marine half still in the box so I could use any of those models I got a few intercessors lying around somewhere, but I’ve honestly no clue hoe to build Ravenguard. I do know that I really want some dudes with power claws and shields to jump in and rip gak up as that is what Space Sharks do. But I also know that pure melee lists tend to lose a lot which I’m okay with, I’d like it to be more balanced where it mostly comes down to how well I feel like playing vs blown off the board in 1 turn

Early next year will see the new Munitorum Field Manual released.

It will update point costs for all factions based on randomness and tournament results.

What is good now might become too costly by the time you primed half of your Marines.

On a power level note:
If you don't mind refluffing some things, Black Templar might be a solid option as a rules base, as they are able to give 5+ invul saves to all of your Centurions.

I redid the list in 40k lists and I find that list a bit more interesting. Though I would like to kitbash the Veterans to make them primarus as I’m not a fan of the height difference anyone got a good idea how to do this?

(Assault) Intercessors + whatever Firstborn arms you need for your loadout will do the trick.
