Looks like GW is giving away entire year of Releases https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/11/22/win-an-entire-year-of-warhammer-releases-in-our-biggest-competition-ever/

You get more entries the more money you spent in there webstore. I don't if it would be worth spending a lot money on their webstore to get a better chance of winning. I might buy some web only stuff, but that is about it

I wouldn't want to win, simply because of the amount of effort it would take selling almost everything, since I wouldn't want to keep most of the releases. Sure, it's a nice little money earner, but still...

I know people have issue with the Sergeant Castus promotion, but it's promotions like that which get me interested. This, or vouchers to spend on future purchases, are just not that interesting.

Not sure what I would want to order from the webstore. I'm sure I could find uses for all the things that I normally wouldn't order as my local shop has a consignment shelf.

I should enter by buying that limited Chaos Champion. I don't win anything, ever, and with such a modest purchase I'd virtually have no chance. But seeing as how I don't have room for even a month's worth of GW releases there's a real threat of winning just for the WTF effect.

yeah you'd still get a fair bit, I mean if you go out and buy a buncha stuff specificly to enter in the contest you're an idiot (*expects mind you there to be a few of those) but there's gonna be stuff that you'lll wanna get anyway.

It may just be that the lottery license for it is still pending. Or that the licensing in the excluded states/territories requires an actual prize value more specific than 'We dunno. It'll be some stuff.'

There are two separate sweepstakes each with one prize each:

3.3.1. US/CAN/NI: One sweepstake for eligible entrants in the US, Canada and Northern Ireland, with one entry permitted per person; and

3.3.2. Rest of World: One sweepstake for all other eligible entrants, with entrants permitted additional entries as set out at 4.3 below.

Couldn't even stretch to 1 winner in each continent, let alone 1 for each country.

For the US you don't even get extra entries for webstore purchases, there's just the one free entry here:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/win-warhammer-for-a-year/

P.S. Don't get fooled into clicking the box to subscribe to the newsletter, you don't have to to enter.

Mind you, I don't think I'd even want to win this. Think of all that extra crap you don't even want cluttering up your house until you can sell it on ebay.

I singed up. Might make a couple of webstore purchases this week on some stuff I want that my local stores don't have. Currently shipping delays are at three weeks on warhammer stuff in my area!

If I won, I'd give away for free to others who wanted it the stuff I won't need. So on the extreme chance I win, I might share with Dakka!

You don't have to sell it. Keep the stuff you'll really want, and give that which you don't to friends, local wargamers, etc.

Of all the things there are about GW to complain about, this really seems to be stretching the limits of entitlement more than a tad. It's a contest with free entry for a bunch of stuff. The fact that there is more than one prize is a bonus.

Well let's see...From this year for example all the new ork models, all the new black templar models, AOS harbinger starter set, all the new kruleboyz, all the new stormcasts. Then there's sister of battle releases and tons more.

I mean...have you even looked at what GW been releasing all year? Guess you haven't paid any attention if you have missed swathes of releases even in this delay plagued year.

The fact that it exists is not a compelling argument for how cynical it is.

I presume from your reductive reply, this requires elaboration..... (even though its common sense).

The fact that GW is regressive in localisation is the underlying comment. They're already jumped the shark on that one though. Back in the day, a localised GW used to be a thing.

I am entitled to this opinion.

You know what is entitled? A company exploiting near mindless consumers who are being used as a cash crop in a string of unending cynical promotions.

This promotion is lazy, uninspired and GW is not even attempting to localise it.

Well clearly I'm so good at it that you have no rebuttal than personal attacks. I mean if that isn't intellectual submission, then nothing is.

You're welcome and indeed invited to discuss the actual subject though

Reductionist take: it's a competition they don't have to run, it would be easy for 0 people to win a year of releases, it has a free entry, there are some legal restrictions on some areas partaking and people should be at the very least neutral to the competition.

You're opting to being negative towards evil backwards corporate scumbags giving away something for free. Just have a think about that lovely little oxymoron.

As much as you do usually just beat the evil gw drum for the sakes of it, I think you've drowned out common sense here.

From the legal page, it looks like they only have it lumped into two different areas and prizes to satisfy the different legal requirements in different countries.

GW have run various similar contests in the past - the reader's survey way back in the day that had one person win a copy of every boxed set currently (at that time, obviously) in production, and the 'win the height of a Space Marine in miniatures' one from the slightly less distant past jump to mind. Those only had a single winner, and I don't recall anyone ever claiming before that this was an issue.

It's a contest to win some stuff. That's better than not having a contest to win some stuff.

Eh, I never buy from GW directly. But I'll toss an email into the free entry thing. May not win, but it also costs nothing either.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.
