20 years ago I got into warhammer because of a school friend who i still sorely miss, and today..for the first time ever I drilled out the gun barrel of a models weapon.
Hopefully many more to come as i begin my descent into the Black rage...as painting is coming next & i'm just dreading it
dumb thing to be happy about..but there you have it.

Looks good and clean. I’m not a huge fan of doing it, as I always feel I’m going to mess up the model. But it rarely happens. I pretty much drill them all out these days.

The good news is that you can use green stuff or shave off little bits of sprue and plug the scuffed hole and re-drill once it's dry.

There was a thread not too long ago about fixing mis-drilled barrels. One suggestion was to fill the spot with green/brown stuff and either wait for it to dry and re-drill, or use a pin while wet to make a hole in the right spot.

For drilling I make a pilot hole with a hobby knife. Place the point as close to the middle as I can judge, give it a twirl, but not too deep. The first one is a gauge. If it’s off center (as happens more often than not) widen the hole by twisting the blade back and forth with a little pressure towards the middle of the gun. Once things look right, I break out the drill.

As a fellow Brit, Hobbycraft does a sculpting putty type stuff in a tube that dries harder than green stuff and is really simple to use if it's just filling gaps. Just squirt some out and smooth it off with a wet sculpting tool or just file down the craggly bits after its dried if you don't have sculpting tools.

It's also pretty good for bases if craggly bits is what you're after.

thank you for the tip i've honestly been winging it so far (i did another 4 and yeah 2 got buggered) and well..i clipped them off before seeing this i may try doing "Supressor" barrels to the two i broke, gives me a reason to practice my greenstuff skills
