Season 3 is up on Netflix. I just finished watching it and I really liked how the series kept the "Swiss Family Robinson" feel the whole way through. They wrapped up the series on a high note.

I like it when the people who make these shows can tell a story with a satisfying ending instead of a rushed or ham-fisted attempt to resolve the outstanding issues.

Pretty sure I'll be buying the series on blu-ray once it's released in that format. Too bad there wasn't any merchandizing (model ships and such) to go with it.

I quite enjoyed it, binged it over a couple of days. I wonder if the one year time skip was always planned or if they just needed to explain Will’s growth spurt. I liked that Smith was still Smith but without the constant and often self defeating sudden but inevitable betrayals that had grown tiresome in the previous seasons. Action and story was good, Chekhov’s Gun gets a real workout. I did not care for the Sally bit, that one part felt too contrived, but otherwise the ending was generally pretty good.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Binged all of season 3 today.

It remains one of the most heavily plotted shows I've ever seen, where basically everything introduced plays a role later down the line*.

I liked how they dealt with the main bad guy robot, even if he was quite indistinct as a character. And I thought the resolution was good.

*The only thing that wasn't followed up was Penny's helmet being sucked up on that slug world. I genuinely thought there'd be a moment where they needed helmets, and would be one short, requiring someone (probably Don) to sacrifice themselves.

I enjoyed the final season, but the Alpha Centauri colony was a huge let down for me. This solar punk city of the future turns out to be just a suburb in space. Everyone's using these rovers moon rovers to drive on roads to their own private, single family, luxury homes. Elon Musk must have designed it. I realize it wasn't an important aspect of the show, but it still bugs me.

But I did enjoy some of the ideas the story had about AI. Maybe an AI revolution might not be the monolithic movement we think it might be. And then the conflict there might be with the existential void of pure freedom. At least, that's I think the message was...

Or maybe it's that the lack of pressure to conform encourages productive change? That would fit better with the human characters better.
