So here I am getting sucked into 40k again, this time around with the recent BT release. Helbrecht is a stunning sculpt and I want to give him a couple of friends to back him up on my shelve, but I'm not too well versed in BT lore.
Apart from the bespoke units like Sword Brethren and Crusaders Squads, what SM units are usually associated with BT? The Land Raider Crusader seemed like a nice choice, but they are really pricy for such an old kit.

Advice would be highly appreciated!

Bamberg / Erlangen

The Emperor's Champion and a Chaplain for sure.

LRC are iconic, but can not transport Primaris, so look out for that.

Originally, Black Templars did not have access to Demolisher tanks and Devastator squads during their 3rd and 4th incarnation, so I would leave those heavy support options at home if going for fluff.

While not especially Black Templar-y, Bladeguard fit the looks perfectly.

Make sure to put chains on every weapon in your army.

If you're looking to buy a Land Raider these days, I'd start with ebay rather than GW. There's no excuse for that kit being $96 US now. The pricing is a joke.

And They Shall Not Fit Through Doors!!!

If we're talking primaris, Redemptor (BT always used dreads), chaplain on bike, judiciar, bladeguard (plus their banner bearer, captain, and lieutenant), apothecary, incursors, reivers and Repulsor (with gatling cannon, heavy bolters and multi-melta for that old school land raider look) all look the part out of the box and are pretty fitting for the chapter.

In terms of other primaris units, intercessors and hellblasters with their light, assault guns to facilitate quick closing to the enemy and charge, perhaps with sergeant made from crusader box to give them the fresh BT battle brothers look. BT also used Predators, so maybe a Gladiator with not-hurricane bolters, twin gatling and multi melta?

Awesome, thanks everyone for chiming in. What do you think about dreadnoughts? Currently everyone is advocating the Redemptor due to the recent success of that one BT tournament list, but I'm more a fan of the good old boxnaught for the aesthetics. Which variant would you recommend: Venerable, Ironclad or Vanilla?

The Venerable is a walking shrine, I'd go for that.
