There was an old reddit article. Supposebly by a former GW employe. They talked about the problems with pricing D weapons. They wanted to price the wraightknight, who came with D wepaons. But hier ups said they would never sell eldars if it was priced to high, and they intensionally priced them lover.

Do anybody remember where it is? Or the article in general?

That was AMA on Reddit. The problem is, clueless people latched onto Chinese whispers mangled offhand quote and started making dumb conspiracy theories about GW buffing new models to sell them (when simple observation of say the whole new primaris or necron range will tell you how stupid this take is). When you actually read what was written, it's obvious the sales person telling the game writer to keep badly written, OP Eldar rules he did as beta version is NOT standard procedure and in fact the writer was both shocked to hear it and it was first time he had such interaction. Maybe he was lying, I don't know, but I bet he wishes he didn't open that Pandora box now...

Was it this one, from James M Hewitt's AMA?

Thank you.

I found the quote I was looking for.

Spoiler:
Ha! Fair enough then. Thanks for signing up!

The Wraithknights... well, that was a thing. The Eldar codex was designed at a time when we were told to make things a) exciting and interesting and b) reflect the narrative at all costs. So D-weapons, right? Because that's clearly what the weapons are. So we did it, and we tested them loads, and the points values shot up (I think the Wraithknight was about 450?). Then they went to review, and someone in a position of authority (who has since left0 said "I love it, but don't increase any points values."

Because, obviously, that means people need fewer models, see?

So I said "Ok, so I'll put the rules back to how they were," and was told "no, keep them, just don't change the points values".

Makes me wince, just thinking about it.

As I say, though those days are over

The reason I am was asking was in regard to the Tau railgun, and to a lesser extent the pulse blastcannon.

I quit during 6th edtion, with a bad taste in my mouth. But on 8th edtion I just got the impression that GW was atemtig to make a better game, that actually wroked as a game. Friends of mine where playing and I jumped back on the wagon. Every dession after that I feel has made the game better. Rule of three, 50% deployed on the table. Point balancing etc. I stand with GW on those point.

But the railgun just reminds me of the D cannon weapon. I will say that the sky is not falling, yet... I need more context. I heard leaks that the hammerhead woulf cost 145 points. For an army with exspensive elite models, like a crusher stampede tyranid, knights, chaos knights or much of the deathguard codex it just feels bad. It might be these tau weapons will be cept in check my transhuman fysiolagy, as that is a big counter. I am just hoping the sky is not faling.

It just shows GW gives only half a gak about balance. D3+3 Damage dark lance was not tested by all playtesters, it was implemented after some, maybe all pts balancing was done. It's not a conspiracy, just ineptitude.
