No combi-plasmas for the sarges? There is still room for more plasma and you have spare points.

The obvious question is why Ultras, and not Dark Angels; they traditionally are the plasma spam marines. Not that there is anything wrong with Ultramarines. Play what you want.

From a practical POV, this is a castle list, with everyone bunched around the HQs for re-rolls. What are your plans for holding objectives? Or scoring secondaries?

What I might suggest would be to shift a little away from a pure plasma list to something with a little more playability. You can keep spamming plasma, just do it a little different.

A tac squad with a plasmagun/c-plas sarge keeps to the theme, but adds ObSec and mobility.

Dreads can tote plasma, and can move up and fire. You can use the wisdom of the ancients strat to give them a re-roll aura for a turn.

Old bikes, new inceptors, or JP marines with plasma pistols (either AMs or VVs) combine fast movement and sun-like fury.

Keep your firebase. Plant them somewhere with good line of sight, and vaporize anything they can see. But have a mobile unit, and can go out and interact with the battlefield.

Yeh new to marines and just picked ultramarines caused I had a few bits. But saw last night dark angels were the way to go so will change hq to Azrael and will probably add some bikes/dreads to the list. Thanks for the help dude.

You just inspired me, I saw the subject line, and it got me thinking about hellblasters. I primarily play Ultras, but I have a Dual Wing DA army I like. Did it first in Ultras, but doing this at 2,000 points in Greenwing is hilarious. I went with:

Azrael, a Bladeguard group, a bunch of Heavy Intercessors, 2 apothecaries, and 20 Hellblasters - I lean towards the Rapid-Fire choice. It turns out a whole model cheaper but even with that it would be better. Part of me is tempted to drop the Bladeguard for something else, it's not quite 400 points that I'm tempted to dump into more Intercessors, but I want a Fight Phase option for clearing objectives too.



My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Love it! Some practical stuff:
1. Hellblasters assault plasma incinerator is the better gun for everything other than range, if it's within move+24" of a target this outperforms the other variants against pretty much everything.
2. Dark Angels have +1 to hit if stationery and 1 decent plasma strat. Ultra's are still a good shout, better mobility with super doctrine and redeploy strat, seal of oath is a great relic for plasma, sons of guilliman strat is an extra source of reroll 1's, and fall back + shoot is always good on a shooting army.
3. Better relics would be vox on Cap, seal of oath on Lt.
