Jazza of youtube fame is making steps to deliver a tabletop game. A year or so back he revived his old "tabletop time" youtube channel after many years doing general art videos on his main channel, and it seems like in that time he's started working on a game.

The games company will be called "gatecrash games".

Announcement in the youtube video below.

My personaly take.... when he said it combines table top gaming, trading card gaming, and will use a mobile app, my first thought was "ewwww, that sounds horrible".

But lets see how it goes I guess, too early to say much.

I wish them luck, but I'm definitely one of those that do not like a reliance on an app for my tabletop, especially miniatures, games. Handy reference thingies, sure, but as part of the game? Pass for me on that.

I wonder if his name being attached to it will make it a success, or if it will stand on its own.

Various games in the past have tried to add app-based elements, and it hasn't really caught fire for any of them. And adding both an app and cards seems like an expensive proposition.

Curious to see what they come up with.

Also not a fan of mandatory apps - I have a few board games like that, and if at any time the company decides to no longer pay the maintenance costs for the app your game just becomes unplayable.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I only skimmed the video but I didn't see anything about the app being mandatory but likely is if he's talking about video game design experience with making it. Makes me wonder what even it will be as it just seams like he took his 3 favorite things: video games, CCGs and minis and mushed them together. Guess this won't be the first time that several of them have been mixed, all the poor results, but not all 3.

could just be the CCG side of it is an app as otherwise it will either be a mess or people will just wonder why they physical components at all?

The issue really is if you buy into the game and it needs the app and they close down the project after a few years you're left with a lot of nothing. I'm one that doesn't mind playing "dead games" as they're called so that scenario, which has happened several times in the past, keeps me away from these games.

Why buy something that can become useless overnight?

He's going to fight Games Workshop? With an app-based game? That's going to end hilariously.

I'm not really sure how long he's been around but Facebook starter aggressively pushing his content on me several months ago. His regular art stuff is not that bad for the 4-5 minute clips that get shown but I find the minis related stuff to be rather boring, but I tend to think most mini painting videos/youtubers to be. Looks to be fairly successful has he's got a decent sized staff of around 5 or so people.

I also noticed that this announcement video is from 5 months ago. Guess he may not be that popular if it was this slow to make the rounds outside of social media.
