That's an alliterative title, isn't it? Let me know if this isn't the right place for this topic.

I've been curious about options for orc archer miniatures. I'm not looking for anything from any one company, just any 28mm ish figures that might be out there.

I know that there are some for the LoTR GW game, but so far as I can tell they're mainly in the mordor orcs kit, where there's just four of them, and the uruk hai scouts kit, which has 8. And I'm hoping to find a bit more than that.

Off the top of my head - Mantic do these & Warlord do these (but I can't comment on the quality) and Wargames Atlantic have Goblins.

GW style orc archers used to be in the 6th ed box set.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

The Viking Forge has some lovely Jes Goodwin orcs that I've had my eye on: http://thevikingforge.net/25mm-fantasy-orcs.html

That is more than I expected to find, thank you everyone.

I'm not as big a critic as some of Mantic's sculpts, but I admit that I just didn't like their orcs. The warlord figures look interesting, though, it looks like I would be able to arm them all with bows if I wanted to.

The Jes Goodwin ones are delightfully old school. Not quite what I'm looking for right now but definitely something to keep an eye on.

Savage orcs are fun but I think I'm looking for a more traditional look for my orcs.

there's also Wargames Foundry / Warmonger Minis who are partially former Citadel folks AFAIK - bit on the pricey side, tho: https://www.warmongerminiatures.com/collections/archers-1

I was going to suggest warmonger but you beat me to it. Absolutely beautiful sculpts if a tad pricey for a unit but they’d be excellent for the odd unit champion, I mean look at Bazalcrut the Sharpshooter! What a character.

I was also going to say if you wanted a bit of plastic kitbashing you could take old WFB plastic orc bodies and give them 40k ork shoota arms with crossbows. Might be worth a bash. I’ve done something similar with an old Heroquest orc before.

Oh yes, those are some fun orcs. Something else to look into getting one or two, just to have them, and to enjoy painting them.
