For the SOB players, how do you run any other SOB other than Bloody Rose?

I've been playing SOB since the start of 8th, and I ran mono Valorous Heart throughout all of 8th, and it ran really well because exorcists were good, and you just had sturdy infantry. Now, every time I try to make a list in the back of my mind I just think, "This would be better in Bloody Rose." It's just a stupid good sororitas compared to all of the others, and every time I add things like Zephrym, Repentia, Sacrosancts, or Paragons, I just feel bad that they're missing the -1 attack for not being Bloody Rose.

For anyone not playing BR, what's working well?

Well this is how a lot of people end up with a second army. It can be pretty common to see your subfaction go down the drain from one edition to the next then rise back to the surface.

Valorous Heart is the least impressive. Ebon Chalice and Argent Shroud have some interesting opportunities..

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

Argent Shroud is fun. You can sprint your Retributors, Celestians, and your Paragon suits into optimal dakka range and unload. I usually kit out my rets/paragons/cellies so that they can pop Holy Trinity as needed. Dominion are also decent of course.

Celestians in particular can be really dangerous, Perma +1 to hit if they're near a Canoness, and +1 wound rolls from Holy Trinity.

It's not going to carry you to the top on sheer codex power, but it's fun to play and decently competitive as an all-rounder list.

Consider Arcos for your melee needs, they don't need (and don't get) any order bonus.
Same for Pengines.

Zephirs are still very good even without Bloody Rose. With Martired Lady and Sacred Rose they are probably even better than in Bloody Rose. They hurt less, but are more guaranteed to have that miracle dice for the charge which allows them to hit the enemy backlines.

Paragons in Martired Lady get a lot from that +1 to hit for losing a suit.

The only model which I would leave at home without Bloody Rose, are the big blobs of Repentia. I would still play 1 or 2 min squads, because they are still able to bring the hurt for minimum investment, and most importantly give a dice when killed.

This should be a topic for the SoB tactic thread.

I play OOML. When it comes down to it, the attack bonus for Bloody Rose is good but that's the trade-off for not playing them. For OOML, the hit bonus and additional miracle dice will also come in handy and any melee units are still going to get the job done, just not as efficiently. Repentia are still going to mess up most targets and getting a +1 to hit for them in OOML is really helpful. You can also offset the lost attack by having a Priest/Dogmata throw around a War Hymn.
