Seems we’ll be seeing middle aged B&B in at least the movie.

I’m up for that. But not for Paramount+.

Beavis is my spirit animal, and I bloody love the show. But not enough for yet another streaming service.

See they're all talking about Beavis and Butt-Head, but I'm over here wondering if we'll get a sequel series to King of the Hill about adult Bobby and his family because I've been wanting something like that

I loved the original B&B, but somehow 'forgot' it already returned once before 11 years ago...

From Wikipedia:
Potential revival
On August 8, 2017, it was revealed that Judge and Daniels had talked with Fox executives about a potential revival.[19] In a March 19, 2018, interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Judge said he would want the revived series to include aged characters, such as an older Bobby.[20] On March 20, 2020, Daniels revealed that he and Judge had an idea for the reboot. Daniels stated, "We do have a plan for it and it's pretty funny. So maybe one day."[21] On March 17, 2021, writer Brent Forrester stated that a reboot is currently underway, stating in a Tweet, "I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES. They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill." The reboot will possibly feature "aged-up characters".[22]

On January 18, 2022, Judge and Daniels announced the forming of a new company called Bandera Entertainment, with a revival of King of the Hill being one of several series in development.[23]

I'm still waiting for more Daria, but was happy with the wrap-up they did.

And to be sure, Judge did do B&B and KotH right? I'm pretty sure I haven't mixed that up. Personally Beavis and Butt-Head was never my deal but it makes me happy that there's talk about bring back some of these older classic comedy shows. While changes in style are probably inevitable, I miss some of that old flair and even class these shows have that are kind of absent in a post-Family Guy television landscape. Obviously I'm not quite talking about B&B here so I'll stop but hearing that there's hope for a King of the Hill revival makes me happy. I miss that show's brand of mundane goofiness.

No danger of finding a decent IP here. Probably make money just the same, however.

Beavis and Butthead is kind of timeless though.

The last revival includes some of the funniest episodes I’ve ever seen of B&B, and I’ve seen them all.

As well as ripping on music videos, we see their critique of cretinous TV like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom (might be 16 And Pregnant).

I can highly recommend it if you’re into B&B.

I am very excited for more Beavis and Butthead.
If anyone wants to find all the old show I'd just say seek out King Turd. I'm hearing good things are expected from the new B&B.

Recently found this fan episode. I hope the new series is as good as this.

It took years but I finally managed to find all of the Daria series and it was really good and worth a complete watch. Probably found it on the digital seas or something. No clue now.

My biggest issue with re-watching B&B (and Daria) is that a lot of the music has been removed/replaced due to licensing issues.

Same here.
However, seek the King turd edition for the show how it was.
And I did also find this.

The Daria I have doesn't have much music except short bits stuck in between scenes. Mostly I was impressed at the character growth and story progression. It took me years to finally watch it.

A year or two back I built my Beavis and Butthead playlist as many clips of them watching videos as I could find and music from that span of time with just a little more I though would fit, over 400 tracks so far. then I found the video I've linked to and turned it into an MP3.
It's been very therapeutic and just good fun.

On topic of the new B&B, I just have no idea if there will be music videos or not. Not sure what to expect.

It really isn't. Its intrinsically tied to a specific (and brief) time period and culture, and doesn't work at all if removed from them.

Thought exercise: what's the 16th century French equivalent, or the 21st century Indonesian?

I'll totally watch this. Do America is still one of my favorite movies. I'm hoping they do another Zombie-music Roth-art scene.

False equivalency.

Beavis and Butthead is all about The Idiots. And their approach to life.

Most of the time life kicks them up the hoop. Other times they’re on the verge of winning, but are so bloody stupid and caught up in themselves and their life perspective they can’t see it, and so blow it.

It’s animated Schadenfreude.

It should be depressing. It should be an entirely negative experience. But that our Boys never actually give up? It’s kind of inspiring.

We’ve all been kids (and I’m sorry to other younger Dakkanauts, but that does include you). And therefore we’ve all been self sabotaging morons. The media we consume changes, sure. But that underlying lack of experience remains. It’s just different now.

Kids are no longer obsessed with MTV. But they’re still obsessed with whatever media replaced it (no I’m not going to name it). There will always be a Beavis, a Butthead, a Buzzcut, a McVicker, a Van Driessen, a Daria, a Todd and an Anderson. Because those are eternal tropes.

The humour derived from said tropes is equally eternal.

What? I...? Really, what?
There's no misery to take pleasure in, nothing to be depressed by (certainly nothing to be inspired by). You're either amused by 90s American teen parodies (and a mildly exaggerated version thereof), or you don't watch it. They don't have lives, they don't try to 'win.' They're just stuck in a loop they can't escape, and don't have enough awareness to even recognize any aspect of it.

And, no, its not a false equivalency. If you can't do the same shtick in other times and places, it isn't timeless. Its just an encapsulated moment of cultural stupidity that is either funny to you or it isn't. If you don't like that particular brand of humor, it has no value at all.

Well, let me go look up those 16th Century French and 21st Century Indonesian media and literature, and I’m sure we’ll find some which centres around self sabotaging morons.

Defiantly some fair points. I want to believe that Mike Judge is very aware of what the fans want and I am sure he's been thinking about this off and on for years.

Everyone feel free to list your favorites. No wrong answers.

I'd say Pipe of Doom is brilliant.
Nose Bleed, prank call, blood pressure, Choke, lightning strikes, pregnant pause and yes even Mr. Andersons balls are some of my favorites.
There's an episode where they get stuck on an island in a artificial pool/wishing well in a mall simply hilarious. I can't remember the name of that episode.
And one with a huge tire.

I don't think the boys sitting around watching tv or video's is overly important now. Honestly I'd like to see them watching videos on a phone at work and not doing their jobs, Not too dissimilar from the stuff they did at Burger World. But I also think there is a lot of room for new material.

I'm usually very skeptical about reboots or new material for shows that I like this much. What ever happens I have a feeling there will be some real gems in there.

It took years for me to finally watch the last season and they're watching teen mom and the Jersey shores and ripping it to shreds.
To me these boys were eventually youtube long before there was a youtube.
I really want to see Tod fight Mr. Anderson. I've spread rumors that Mr. Anderson beat Tod in a fight "that one time". Or maybe they're related and it's weirdly wholesome. Which would also be hilarious.

I'm finding myself more disturbed by the amount of hope I am feeling.

Holy Cornholio is pretty much perfect, and still one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life.

I’m intrigued to see a middle aged Cornholio!

Oh my lord. Had totally forgotten about this, which brings up late fridays on Channel 4. Home Improvement( a silly teenage crush on the mom ) and other long gone shows - some violent anime called Cyber City 808( super cool show with an awesome opening tune )....

The stand out memory was...a school teacher playing a guitar round a campfire and a friggin bear attacks him, and they just all laugh at his misfortune. Sterling stuff!

That would be Mr David Van Driessen, who mmkayed long, long before Mr Mackey!

My Favorite Van Driessen episode is when he goes through the school bus’ front window.

I bloody love Beavis and Butthead! I’ve taken tomorrow off work as all my cases are up to date and therefore I cannot be bothered. Guess I’m gonna stick on my boxed set, and have a binge whilst I cross stitch.

Huhhuhuhuhuh. I said boxed.

I even have a Beavis tattoo.

It’s a Quintesson from Transformers, but with three different faces of Beavis.

Left hand head (as you look at it) is normal Beavis, picking his nose with a tentacle. Middle head is Cornholio. Right hand is Beavis in pain, with a pencil in his eye.

It’s my favourite tattoo, as the tattooist absolutely nailed the design as I described it to her.
