So in what cases would you guys pick Plasma Inceptors over Bolter ones?

I play Ultrasmurfs so I can easily give them reroll 1s for 1CP. I love my Bladeguard, Intercessors and Vicrtix as well as 3 man unit of eradicators and Whirlwind, maybe Venerable Dreadnought and Redemptor. So my only real anti tank is 3 Eradicators, 1 Redemptor Macro Plasma and 1 multimetla from Vene Dread. If I run into Knights or something I have problem.

So I thought about one 3 man unit of Plasma Inceptors for anti-tank or anti-elite

Is it worth it, or they are unplayable and it is better to go 60 pts cheaper with Bolters?

Go back a year and a half and the plasma versions were all the rage, one of the best units in the game!

unfortunately they were hit by a double points nerf by GW whilst simultaneously every new army was being released with more invulnerable saves and negative 1 damage abilities making their guns pretty poor.

At their current cost they are nearly unusable, they need a 10-15pt drop to be anywhere near competitive.

Pretty much what WisdomLS said. The only case where they MIGHT be okay is if you're playing DA so you can stack their overcharging with the +1 damage strat from Weapons from the Dark Age that they have so you can somewhat bypass the -1D abilities being handed out like candy right now. Even then, Eradicators are probably a safer bet for you right now.
