Pretty solid start.

Be careful cleaning mold lines. It might take a bit of work, but worth the time invested.

Base is a bit bright; I’d hit it with a wash to grime it up a bit.

Few spots where some tidying up might be nice, but at table-top arm’s length, nothing major.

Well done and welcome to the hobby!

As per Nevelon, fantastic for first mini.

Some nuln oil or agrax earthshade on the base to add some contrast to the metal.
Consider painting the dirt a dirt colour.

Few upper edge highlights with a lighter blue (to helmet, top backpack, top of hand holding the gun, and over the toes.

Should take an extra 5 minutes (not including drying time for the washes).

Congrats. Waaaayyyyyyy better than nearly anyone else's first mini I'm sure!

Maybe a pin wash and some edge highlights and there's not much more you could really do until you get more experience under your belt.

Great job for your first mini, but why did you paint it sideways?

I know you didn't ask for advice but i'll give you soe anyway

It's best not to have any pre-conceptions about what is a 'good' paint job or not. Ignore the box art unless it's for reference and don't follow what White Dwarf says about 'battle ready' and 'parade ready' - it's all bollocks. Don't look at pics of minis online and feel that your skills are inedequate. Ask for advice, sure, and follow tutorial vids to learn new techniques, but realise that you can take as little or as much as you want from others. They are your minis as long as you are happy with them, that's all that counts.

You should be proud of that paint job bud, keep up the good work.

As said, that's a great start. Looking down at it when on the table, it'll look just like on the box.
If the colours are in the right places, and the details are picked out, that's all you need.

For the next one, it's the little bits that need attention, before you even start painting. The bit on the shoulder pad rim won't get noticed when it is on the table, but is visible when looked at close-up.

As for it being sideways, it might just be the link you copied from the gallery. I think I use the 'Forums' link, when putting pics into posts.

Very nice!! As others have said, a few select washes to settle into the recesses to darken the shadows and then if you want the raised areas to pop, a quick light drybrush with a lighter color will make a huge difference. Both of these are very quick processes. However, if you can (and want to) spend more time on each mini you can begin the colored highlights and shadows with varying degrees of paint color.

Myself, I always just wanted a good tabletop paint job and wanted to get them done as quick as possible, so base paint, wash and drybrush highlight was my method.

There's a handful of trolls everywhere, but don't let that stop you if you encounter one.

Keep on painting, you're off to a good start.

Looks way better than my first ever mini (a LotR Moria Goblin, if you're curious). You should be proud of that, and as time goes on and you continue to practice, I assure you your skills will improve.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Speaking as someone who recently refurbished one of the first miniatures I ever painted, and by the looks of things I'd done the original paint job by holding his feet and dunking him head-first in a paint pot, I'd say you're off to a heck of a start.
