So the Fronteris terrain has metal bolts. Clearly a frame has been bolted to a base material.

(See spoiler image below)

Spoiler:

Has anyone reflected this in the painting? I am mulling over doing the base as puffcrete or similar colour, but picking out bolted on frames as grey (plasteel), but I will be a fair amount of faff. Anyone else done something different to one colour?

To be honest you wouldn’t want to leave the bolts exposed anyway. Through any corrosion protection and general detritus that builds up at ground level I think I would be hard to distinguish between the base material and the bolts very rapidly, let alone structures they have been out I. The ash wastes for any length of time

typically your steel and bolts will be galvanized to prevent corrosion and often times bolts will be stainless steel.

Stainless might be ok, but even galvanising seems like poor protection in the wastes. The galvanising layer is usually pretty thin.

Exactly,’hence there is no problem in my mind of just having the bolts the same colour as the substrate, rather than having to paint each little bolt silver.

Scotland, but nowhere near my rulebook

The Imperium really is likely to be a "paint it shut" place. Make the whole thing the same colour of you was want.

What do you mean you need to loosen the bolts and the threads are absolutely full of paint?

(I tend to pick out my bolts for a bit of visual interest, but that's personal choice)
