So for anyone who has intimate knowledge of the Warp Blast rule as it's applied to Tyranid Zoanthropes, I need some clarification or something, it just doesn't seem quite right to me. So let me get this straight, a unit of 5 Zoanthropes can do Warp Blast once, then twice, and then possibly THREE TIMES???? 2D32 mortal wounds 3 times in a row. It's unreal. And then he rolled 11 on the 3rd smite making it D6 instead and then I immediately resigned the game, that's fething ludicrous. Is this really right? It can't be. Its so unbelievably OP. The last time this happened my Vindicator went from 11 to 4 wounds instantly. It's just insanity, GW needs to really chill the feth out with all this massive damage and this unending smite bs

You can’t smite twice with the same unit.
Has to be different units.

Thank you, I believe you. That's the same thing that I was saying however, I couldn't find anything in the rulebook that says that. So where exactly can I find the exact wording because I'm lookin at it and I don't see it. Did GW forget to add this to the rulebook as well? I found out in the same game I played yesterday that there is no clarification on what to do with units who can't legally disembark all their models after their transport has been blown up. This rulebook is incomplete and trash, GW should be refunding their customers for their incompetence, this is unacceptable. I resigned a game last night, I was heated like I have never been before in this game and that should not be the case. I love this site and I love talking with you fine people but I SHOULD NOT have to come here THREE TIMES for rules clarifications, 2 of those times my game was entirely roadblocked because of missing rules so me and my opponent had to wait for answers from the community as usual. GW should be ashamed of themselves, I've never been so thoroughly unhappy playing this game that I have loved since I was 12 and last night may very well have been my last game. If GW can only be bothered to hire 10 people to test out this garbage rulebook then why should any of us waste our time money and sanity?

Edit: I apologize about the rant, again I clarify I love this site and the community. GW on the other hand. Completely the opposite.

It's on page 3 of the Core Book FAQ. What to do with units that can't legally disembark all of their models is found on page 2 of the same FAQ.

Yes, The FAQs are where GW published their rules errata and clarifications. It should always be one of the first places to look for answers to your rules questions.

I guess, but I shouldn't have to look anywhere period. It should be in the rulebook where it belongs. feth FAQs.

Anyway, this subject is concluded to me. Thank you brothers for your aid. May the Dark Gods bless you with all that you desire.

A unit of Zoanthropes can only manifest one power per turn.

How on earth did someone cast three powers with a Zoanthrope unit even if you weren’t aware one the “one Smite” limit?

You don't have to be condescending about it. But, Zoanthropes manifest one power per turn, 2 if they are 4 in a brood or more and they can manifest a 3rd with the use of a stratagem called Power of the Hive M

Edit: and further, I already knew that a psyker couldn't use smite multiple times. I just couldn't find where it says that in the book. Therefore I could not properly prove my opponent wrong on the spot, because the Core rulebook by itself leaves people to believe that they can smite the feth out of someone repeatedly with no problem. Classic GW stupidity.

Not anymore. They can only cast one power, even if there are 6 models in that unit. A new tyranid codex has been released recently, and the unit has been changed. They can cast a second one with power of the hive mind.

Actually it is in the core rules:
MANIFESTING PSYCHIC POWERS
When you select a Psyker unit to manifest psychic powers, you select one psychic power that unit knows and attempt to manifest it. With the exception of Smite, you cannot attempt to manifest the same psychic power more than once in the same battle round, even with different Psyker units.
However, this was being incorrectly interpreted by some to mean a specific caster could manifest Smite multiple times hence the errata to clarify that incorrect interpretation:
Page 215 – Manifesting Psychic Powers, first paragraph
Add the following sentence:
‘The same Psyker unit cannot attempt to manifest Smite more than once during the same battle round.’

I was expressing surprise. You read it a condescension where none was intended. Maybe read things with positive intent?

Anyway, you got the rules wrong (collective “you” meaning “you and your opponent”) as you used old Codex rules with new Codex by looks of things. Max would be two casts now (one for the unit and one extra with the Strat), and you also now know both casts couldn’t be Smite.

Edit: and yes, as above re: the Smite thing, the Core rules never allowed it and the cheese interpretation was patched donkeys yonks ago.

He was using 8th edition codex but we were playing with the 9th edition rulebook at the time. The 9th edition Tyranid codex came out literally days after the game I believe. And what cheese interpretation, if I may ask? Because I found nothing about whether Smite could be used by the same unit. In 8th edition there was uh...psychic focus, I think it was called? It clarified on that. But nothing like that in the 9th edition rulebook because as someone else said, it's been put in the FAQ.

How are some people "incorrectly" interpreting the rules? It says word for word that Smite is an exception, there's no mistake in the interpretation, that's what it says in the rulebook. I was looking at that, it was gakky wording at the very least.

The cheese interpretation was taking a line saying “you can only cast each power once per turn except for Smite” and twisting it to mean “there’s no limit to how many times one unit can cast Smite.” The FAQ clarified intent but didn’t change any rules and it shut the cheese interpretation down.
