Chaos Lord RatSpike of the Emperor’s Children!

After looking at my old Emperor’s Children army from about 10 years ago (god… it’s really been that long?) I decided to finally re-make a proper chaos lord for the force in this new age of 40K. Especially after reading through the new codex, I really love the EC rules, they feel very lore friendly and honestly I can’t wait to jump into my group’s crusade campaign my with them!

When making him I had to sculpt the leather around his gloves and one leg, along with the studs. I also sculpted his gas mask and hose. The right arm is a Dark Eldar Wrack liquifier gun and the sword is a Kabalite Warrior power sword. His base model was the old chaos marine body.

And some comparisons with him and some of the other much older models within the army:

So what do you think?

I honestly think that the grassy bases are… well, definitely a thing of the past, but I wanted to make sure he fit in with the rest of the force as seamlessly as I could - and to that end I wanted to also make sure that I painted him in a way that helped match too. I like the way it came out and it reinvigorated my passion for a very old collection!

He looks great - I love the parts choice for the weapons, they really fit with the 'it's got to be really fancy as well as deadly' mindset of the EC. I find myself liking the bases too, they frame the dark bodies of the miniatures well, and I often imagine Slaaneshi terrain being bright and fairytale-like, just probably with a twist like the blades of grass are razor sharp or something like that.

Thank you! I really like that idea though - razor sharp, but beautiful grass is totally Slaaneshi! Plus you saying it’s fairytale-like does honestly make me like it more!
