So, GW released some new high pgiment mono pigment contrast paints (Imperial Fist, Baal red etc) anyone tried brushing them on vehicles? I know the old ones wheren't good on anything big at ALL, but these I think might actually work

I think you’d want to airbrush them on

I bought a pot of imperial fists yellow, but I don’t have a vehicle to test it on, lol.
It’s quite a pale yellow and you’re going to want to shade it anyway. TBH I was excited to try when I bought it, but now I’m not sure I gain anything from using IF yellow over white than I would gain just spraying it yellow to begin with.

I tried Imperial Fists straight from the pot on a Primaris Outrider that I had primed a while ago. The result is pretty smooth. I am tempted to try it on a tank too, I just don't have any assembled at the moment.

How did you apply the paint?
I may have to add a pot to my next order. I can always use a yellow with good coverage.

If there is an equivalent airbrush paint then surely that’s the best option, otherwise you’re just buying a more expensive paint for the same result.
With the experience of the fact that inks and contrast paints tend be more pigment dense/more intense I suppose Automatically Appended Next Post: jullevi wrote:I tried Imperial Fists straight from the pot on a Primaris Outrider that I had primed a while ago. Just seen your post on IG. You should show the OP the comparison photo I think it looks better

Straight from the pot with GW Medium Shade brush, soaking up any excess pooling.
Imperial Fist is heavily pigmented but still transparent so you need a smooth light colour underneath for best results. If you would look super close under the perfect lighting you could find some patches of lighter colour because I had a little water left on a brush but I think a second coat would smooth them out.
One often overlooked property of Contrast paints is their ability to provide a quick basecoat. Even if you painted completely over it with a yellow layer paint such as Yriel yellow, one coat of Contrast paint will help with its coverage tremendously and it's multiple times faster to apply than a coat of Averland Sunset, for example.
EDIT: Link to a Iyanden yellow vs. Imperial Fist comparison at my Instagram.
