So, first I hope this is the right place to post this is, second and this may seem like an odd question, are the plastic weapons for the newer Contemptor Dreadnought compatible with the Forgeworld Resin Contemptor models?

I ask this as I have only recently returned to the hobby after I left with the introduction of 8th Edition, and have recently found that Forgeworld has ceased all production of the weapons arms for the contemptor. It's a fair bit frustrating as I can finally go in for a proper Heresy Salamanders army, but without the ability to arm the Legion Dreadnought, I just can't see myself dropping the dosh for the hull.

So any help with this modelling conundrum would be fantastic!

Broadly speaking they are, however the Contemptor in the box set only comes with two upper arm pieces (pic below). Hopefully they'll either be more in the full kit, or they'll make the weapon sprues available separately.

Oh... Damn. That figures. Guess I'm gonna have to wait to find out what the full kit contains then.

If you have access to a 3d printer in some capacity, there are a number of files out there for the part needed

These are both ones i've tested and they printed out great.
This one is a solid piece, you'd need to drill holes as required - https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/arm-connector-for-plastic-contemptor
This one has two versions with holes pre-drilled - https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/contemptor-shoulder-joint

Weapon sprues are up for pre-order next weekend, and both sets include the joint:

Actually, only frame 1 has the connectors for the shoulder to weapon joints. I've contacted GW directly and they've confirmed this. I bought two forgeworld dreads with a view to having one dual assault cannon and one dual volkite. Unfortunately, because frame 2 doesn't have the necessary connectors, I'll have to buy two of frame 2 and two, largely useless, frame 1s in order to build them. Which means I'll be spending the initial £84 for the two forgeworld dreads (already very expensive), plus £32 for the weapons I want, plus another £32 to be able to actually USE the weapons I want.

£148 for two dreadnoughts is a heck of a cost. :(

I've emailed GW again to let them know how I feel about this...

tl;dr - if you want to use frame 2 weapons on a forgeworld dread, GW are forcing you to buy frame 1 as well.

Ah crud, forgot about this thread. Some people were claiming that the newer FW dreads were coming with those bits, but that's obviously not true for all of them...

Drop me a PM if you get nowhere with GW - I should have a couple of them spare.

Oh, hey, I might take you up on that! It's the boxy shoulder connection points as well as the rotatable gun connectors, though. Would you have those parts, too?

I emailed GW three days ago to ask about the connectors and got a reply the next day. I replied again straight away to complain about the situation, but they haven't replied since. I was quite polite in the email, too, I didn't give them a reason to ignore me... We'll see if they reply tomorrow, or over the weekend.
