I'm looking for ideas for an alternative to the forgeworld model as the idea of transporting that much resin anywhere even with magnets and pining.
I'd rather use plastic and was looking at gundam but don't know the size comparison, the Ta'unar is 8 inches to the head with roughly 11 inches with weapons positioning

Even within a scale Gundam kits vary wildly in size, a 144 Sazabi is twice the height of a Victory Gundam.

Are there any specific suits you're thinking suitable so we can recommend scales for them? Some can be grenades and transporting them will require a lot of glue and potentially repairs.

No specific suit I was just looking at big mech models but they come in quite a few scales and not knowing what they should be makes it hard to judge size

After checking out the kit the first thing that sprang to mind was Bandais digimon kit mugendramon / machinedramon. It's 10 inches tall with two massive back cannons and you could easily replace the neck with a tau style head. It has the same style legs and some of the blockiness from Tau.

If giant robot dinosaurs aren't to your taste macross Valkeries are close to Tau design and there maybe something there. Unfortunately I don't know those kits well at all so I can't help there.

You could probably do worse than picking up a riptide and adding a big rifle and a bunch of really big boxy launchers.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Not a chance; the Riptide doesn’t even come up to the waist of the Tau’nar!

I bought a Tau’nar as a milestone birthday present for myself and it’s not bad to sectionalise. The arms have really good magnet positions precast and the waist is a big ball joint, so it’s really easy to dowel and disassemble. The shoulder guns are the trickier bit, but they’re reasonably well balanced and the mounting block is a pretty tight fit. I added a couple of pins, just for locating.
