I'm in the process of painting up figures for Black Powder Red Earth, and will also be doing some terrain. I'll post stuff here that keeps it separate from my horror stuff for Don't Look Back.

And the Hongbin Mercenaries:

And Crisis Troop Scorch

Recce troops:

Assaulters:

And the Automatic Rifleman (SAW gunner) and the Operational Advisor:

Thanks, the figures are just amazing. Really good detail the resin allows to shine. Easy painting.

Finished up the mid level Muhtasib troops for BPRE today.

Not as well trained as the mercs, but still have some optics and night vision gear. In the game they have suicide vests and can detonate to ruin the other side's day.

Painted up the Guard Shurta over the last two days. Low tech basic poor quality troops. No night vision or optics for their rifles. Used as cannon fodder.

And all the Aware troops, including their Hongbin mercs and Enabler

So played a solo game (played both sides, game does not include a solo mechanism) to day to learn the game now that I have the figs all painted.

1st, you pick a 'battle ground' which tells you how to lay out the 2D terrain. I used plastic cars from Mantic's Walking Dead instead of the 2D cars included. They are slightly longer than the 2D versions. The company makes some FANTASTIC resin cars/trucks to replace the included counters but they are too expensive for me.

Then pick a tasking and environmental effect card.

The tasking has more text in the rule book. In this case it meant to ignore vehicle placement and instead take 2 trucks as a rolling checkpoint, so now my set up looked like this:

Now I picked forces, each side getting 150 points of troops. Scorch took 3 each Reece and Assault troops:

And Awbari took 3 Hong Bin mercs, 3 Muhtasib and 9 Shurta

Had three teams of 1 Reece/1 Asssaulter VS 3 teams of 3 Shurta and a Muhtasib using the Mercs as a backup/manuever force.

Scorch has to kill at least 100 points of their enemies, Awbari has to last through the game avoiding that.

Little action in Turn 1, each side advanced taking advantage of cover and trying to cover lanes of fire. Turn 2 start point:

As Scorch moves up, some Awbari take immediate action/reaction shots and Scorch returns fire. Turns are in phases, a Direct Fire Phase, and one with LOS can take a shot but gives top chance to activate later. Better quality troops have a save. LOS either is clear, obstructed, or there is none. On the cards (and in the manual) each troop type has a target to roll on 2 D10s to hit clear or obstructed LOS shots. In the Maneuver Phase you alternate moving figures, other player can interrupt to take a reaction shot (at a -3). You can fire during your move. Next is a clean up phase, all activated tokens picked up. Grenades thrown in the Maneuver phase are adjudicated, and anyone with in 3 inches of a bad guy with LOS can shoot. Scorch troops are expensive, but hit often and most Awbari don't have a save. The Awbari troops are cheaper and therefore more plentiful. They need to take every shot they get because though Scorch have a save roll, they don't always make it.

Very bloody very fast. By turn 5, Scorch had reached mission objectives, capping all Honbin Mercs, all Muhtahsib and all but a couple 5 point Shurta. They did so at a high cost though, losing 2 Reece troops. I played it through to the end, Scorch lost an Assaulter on turn 6.

The rolling checkpoint had been eliminated, Scorch wins.

Painted up the Mantic wrecks and a couple 3D printed wrecks I bought on Etsy. Very fast/sloppy but good enough for table scatter.

Thanks! I'm happy with both of those. Amazing the effects some craft paint and powdered pigments can get you.

Sorry it took so long to reply, I missed this. They are Black Powder Red Earth figures: https://www.blackpowderredearth.com/28mm.php

They just released more a few weeks ago. I have them but have not had a chance to get them assembled/painted yet.

Thanks. I know they get a bad rap, but the Army Painter Speed Paints are a large part of what I'm using and have really allowed me to get a lot more done to a decent table top standard as opposed to spending 4-5 hours per figure.

One suggestion, can you do some ink or weathering on the dicast cars? They look a bit too toy-like in the photos.
