I am look at starting up a Genestealer army. I have gone though my old rt models and I have a good start to a army. Since I am unfamiliar on how this edition is played, and I am on a strict budget. I was wonder if thier was any must include unit or solo that in had to pick up to properly use this army.

Just so you know the cores and hq options are covered. What else would need?

This is a very difficult question to awnser because of two reasons:

1. Genestealers are not doing good performances in tournaments these days. This means there is no good blueprint. And you vs the collective hive mind of list builders means that the odds of you finding an A+ list is very small. That is not a bad thing. I personally do not think GS are bad, it is just not topp tier.

2. Building on a budget. GSC is one of the most exspensive armies to collect. The models are exspensive, and you need so many of each model. If you are building on a budget get custodies instead.

That beeing said there are no must include inits in the army:

Here are some build ideas:

- Twisted helix +1S and speed is good for melee.

- Double detachment with custom cult. Do the re-roll 1 and 2 on psyick tests. Grab 2 patriarch and 2 maguses and go to town with a strong sykick phase.

- Abberants. They are good and strong. Eithr in a plain cult, or two big uits of 10 in bladed cog so they get 5++.

- Loads of troops. The 45 points acolyte unit is quite strong for doing secondary actions. The best in the game. Acolytes are good in melee with wepaons. The hand flamer spam is good. The neophytes are good, especially if you get a crossfire token support.

- The fast attack slot is strong. Either dirt cheap bikes with 1 bomb to be anoying. The littke cards are your source of ranged damage.

- The rockgrinder in the heavy support slot of supricingly good for it's points, although not game breaking.

As you start running the numbers you will see that all of this costs a goliath truckload of money to buy. The combat patroll box is quite good! You can also glue acolyte arms on the bodies of neophytes to kitbash some more acolytes. All of the fast attack slots are exspensive to buy! But you need them.

Below is a sample list that did OK.

I dont see any rules question here, this is a tactics question, and should be in the tactics subforum. More precisely in the genestealers tactics thread.
