Using B.E.F. rules, it's "Why-mire."

Similar to how Ypres became "Wipers."

Odd the word looks a lot like imiry, a type of frost monsters that live in the north or the monthly tax reports about how much you have to pay the state, which can also leave you cold.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

I thought you'd pronounce both Ys as the "ea" in "each" in English. The first Y sounding like Yee confuses me. Is that how you'd pronounce Yggdrasil too? Yeeg-drasil, not Eag-drasil? (Genuine curiosity, not a native speaker)

From what I've studied of Norse (where the name Ymir originates), this is correct. Ee-meer, eeg-druh-seel. Many of the modern counterparts in Nordic and Slavic languages start with 'I'.

As far as I can tell, the 'yuh' sound comes from these Norse names being used as the names of places in Anglosphere countries, commonly pronounced according to modern English pronunciation rules.

I pronounce it ... "Ymyr"(Ymir), but since I'm swedish I "cheat".

In english I'd probably pronounce it "Ee-meer"

I'd pronounce it "Ygg-dra-seel" in english*, "Ygg-dra-sill" in swedish.

*The "Y" sounds very similar to the "ea"-sound from "each".

That's usually how I say it. Sometimes I try to treat the "Y" more like "ee" with a hint of a "y" splashed in and it ends up sounding like "ee-yem-eer," but that's probably not correct.

And has has been pointed out, Ymir is (for those who don't know) the primordial giant from Norse mythology. So there are some "correct" pronunciations insomuch as any name that's been around for a long time can have a correct pronunciation.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

If Ymyr is supposed to sound like old norse Ýmir I can guarantee that there is no heavy y- sound in it. Ý sounds a bit like "ea" but very soft. The -mir sounds a bit like how Russians pronounce the Mir name of the space station.

Here is a classic pronunciation of Ýmir in Icelandic. The Old Norse one uploaded is very American. It's a bit like how the English version of "Bifrost" annoys the hell out of me. It is Bif-Rost, not Bi-Frost. Bif means to move(as the bridge is moved) and does not indicate "two" like the bi- pronunciation indicates.

I would go full on mispronouncing it. Specifically I would call them "Yumm-ers", like "Oh, that's so delicious, it's absolutely Yummers!". But, it might be better to listen to people who have a clue 😅

To me, "ymyr" sounds like the word Ymir from the norse, so I say it that way.

JNAPproductions (nice pfp, I could spot Wakfu for miles), seems close to how I say. but to me, Ymyr is said as (/ˈiːmɪər/, Old Norse: [ˈymez̠]).

Anyway, the purple ork is going back to hide with the rest of the purple boyz, SEE YA!
