The music isn't drawing me in and seems way wide off the mark in comparison to the other volumes. However, obviously could be very different in the film.

Volume 1 used music from the 70's and volume 2 used music from the 80's. Volume 3 is using music from the 90's.

Film 1 - the plucky fun film
Film 2 - the half way save the universe film
Film 3 - the serious grim dark one

And somewhere in there was that whole ending the whole galaxy story which probably helped setup the whole dark tone of the 3rd film; which means you gotta go watch that film and then the billion others to get that

Yeah I thought Guardians of the Galaxy movies were supposed to be more light-hearted and fun. This just seems downright morbid. It might still be good, for all that, but I definitely enjoy the darker MCU movies less than the lighter fun ones. I plan to still go see it; it IS a MCU movie after all and I haven't missed one in the theater yet.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Wide off the mark seems to describe pretty much the whole thing. The music in the first two was occasionally off the mark for me personally, but I at least understood the vibe they were going for. This was just generic movie soundtrack whichever, underlying Pain Death, Sorrow and Melodrama the Film. But still with jokes in.

I do wonder if they're doing the Soulstone bubble reality via Adam Warlock (rather than doing anything with the stone itself during IW). It might explain Animal Planet Earth.

That would be the High Evolutionary's Counter-Earth inhabited by the New Men.

I must be Marveled-out. I just can’t seem to give a crap about anything they put out anymore. They blew their wad with Infinity War, and now it all just feels like creatively devoid cash-grabs. Adam Warlock should have been introduced ages ago, since much of the Infinity Gauntlet aftermath had to do with him. Now he’ll just be another poorly written villain in a Marvel story-arc.

This, the new Indy and Transformers all look like half-assed attempts at movie making.
I’ll catch it when it hits Disney+, and that’s only because my wife and kids still like the movies. Which shouldn’t be more than a month or two after release.

I’d like to see an original story and IP again. But since Hollywood is so risk-averse these days I doubt it’ll ever happen. Just another yawn-fest.

See I burned out a long while back - I don't need 3 spiderman series doing the SAME origin story back to back. However I also started to get bored when every film interconnected with all the other films and the odd TV series because it became so messy.

It's really cool that they experimented with that approach, but at the same time I felt like it wound up with a lot of either forced situations or so many lead characters on the screen at once that there just wasn't time for them all in only 1 film.

Ah, right. My tendency to categorize villains by whose comic they usually showed up in works against me at times when it comes to anticipating MCU films. (Doom is a FF villain, Magneto is a Xmen villain, etc. High Evolutionary turned up in a lot of places, but GotG feels like a reach, even with latching onto a new backstory for Rocket as the reason)
As does my preference to have a single well developed antagonist rather than try to shoe-horn multiples into ~2 hours.

Then aniimal Earth would be Counter Earth.

Comics wise, basically the high evolutionary builds a duplicate earth on the opposite side of the sun and populates it with his experiments.

I doubt its a duplicate on the other side of the sun here. But i am shocked to even see counter earth and the animal people at all.

Andor is an IP show that is genuinely well done. For a non-IP story done exceedingly well, I recommend Everything Everywhere All At Once.

There are still great movies being made. They are just drowned out by the big IP event movies and audience apathy.

My story! Secret War
After his organisation is hired to hunt down an influential gang leader on the Hive world, Omnartus. Attelus Kaltos is embroiled deeper into the complex world of the Assassin. This is the job which will change him, for better or for worse. Forevermore. Chapter 1.

The Angaran Chronicles: Hamar Noir. After coming back from a dangerous mission which left his friend and partner, the werewolf: Emilia in a coma. Anargrin is sent on another mission: to hunt down a rogue vampire. A rogue vampire with no consistent modus operandi and who is exceedingly good at hiding its tracks. So much so even the veteran Anargrin is forced into desperate speculation. But worst of all: drive him into desperate measures. Measures which drives Anargrin to wonder; does the ends, justify the means?

The trailer really didn't work for me. It's a lot of noise without much in the way of structure and just looks like a Marvel movie without any of the character charm we usually get from the trailers. Doesn't really say anything about the final movie itself, just that it didn't really work for me as a trailer.

I suspect they'll call it Halfworld but it'll act as a combination of the two.

I don't think this will have anything to do with the Soul Stone. That's Adam's most famous role in the comics, but most of his stories revolve around him being created as the perfect being. That's what has always tied him to the High Evolutionary so I'm sure that will be the focus here along with the general "evolving" animals that will tie back to Rocket's origin.

The big question is whether the Magus will show up here or not. It's basically the only other thing they do with the character and there's a few ways to go here. If he's serving as more of a one and done villain I can see it being his "imperfection" that makes him the ultimate villain of the story. The Magus itself technically functions as a multiverse element though, so it might just show up as a post credit thing to use later.

I suspect Adam isn't really a villain. He's a punch a bit and then they are mates kind of thing. Adam will end up a Guardian by the end of the movie.

It feels like the Rock complained that Groot didn't have enough muscles, and threw a wobbly until the animation team fixed it.

Groot was about that thick in the original film he just hasn't finished growing up. When he gets to full height it will be back to normal, for a humanoid tree, proportions.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
