If I have a character with an aura that effects a given keyword, and said character possesses that keyword, does it benefit from its own aura? I am specifically looking at a Kroot Shaper, which as a reroll ones to hit aura that effect friendly kroot units. As the Kroot Shaper contains the Kroot keyword, its plausible the shaper could benefit from its own aura.

A model is always considered to be in range of its own aura unless stated otherwise. If the unit with the aura ability has to required keywords it will also benefit from the effects of the aura.

Yes, but a lot don't.

For example, Space Marine Characters usually buff keyword <Core> But are not <Core> themselves so they don't get their own buff. This is common among many armies.

Sometimes though there will be smaller subsections of units that do buff themselves. For instance Kroot Shapers jus buff keyword <Kroot> so they do effect themselves.

As King said, they are always in range of their own abilities, so you just have to clarify if their ability actually apples to them or not.
