Just a general question, dosnt need to be THE most efficient known to Ork....just a general guide, how many Boyz do you see in typical Ork Lists?

Thanks

NE Ohio, USA

There's 3 other Ork players at the local shop.

One runs Speed Freaks - I think the most I've ever seen him use is 10 boyz.
The other two tend to run between 20 - 40 boyz if sorts - depending on size of game/other mixes of stuff/mood.

And then there's me with my Grot focused force. The most actual Ork figures I've ever put on the table (not counting vehicle drivers) in a 40k game is 5 - Warboss in MA + 4 Runtherds. So zero boyz.

I use beastsnaggas, zero boyz. So the 200 or so I own sit in boxes. Another local player does run out a Green Tide on occasion, though. But we tend to run themed lists rather than competitive lists.

Boyz? As plain Boyz? None, cero, null.

Snaggas and grot for basics and komandos+ stormboyz in elite

surprisingly to me, there are so many ork players that just don't use the boyz.

I myself play with 1-2 smaller groups of Choppa boyz, this is just because it is good for claiming areas in my opinion.

If you want to play orks, you just have to find what fits your bill!

I say to hell with efficiency, orks don't plan, they just fight!

anyway, this purple ork recommends you to have a good day!

Boils down to their effectiveness.

Currently they don't have any; and with GW's new rules where you are actively punished for taking multiple detachments, their 1 useful build (Trukkboyz) is effectively reduced to at most 1 unit of 10 boyz.

Add in the fact that Grotz are significantly cheaper and significantly better for the sole purpose of scoring points with the ork secondary "Get da good bitz" ...and whats the point of taking more than say 10 boyz as trukk boyz?

My most recent tournament list only had 10 boyz in it as trukk boyz, I had 10 Snaggaz and 40 Grotz. I was maxing out my secondary every game pretty much and the snaggaz did better in CC against tougher opponents thanks to their S7 on the charge and on a WAAAGH.

Ork boyz are worse in most categories compared to Snagga boyz and they aren't as good of objective campers as Grotz so they now live in a weird limbo where they don't really have a purpose besides the 1 off Trukk boyz unit which is still fairly effective at what it does.

Echoing what Semper said really, in most cases you're better off taking grots or snaggas.

I run 10 boys as trukk boys, and they're mostly there to be a backup for my kommandos and a delivery system for Zagstruk for a massed turn one charge.

I expect them to charge and then either do some chip damage to help the kommandos or Zagstruk kill something, or tie something up to stop my wagon and squighogs getting shot up.

The grots do all the scoring, and my kommandos and squighogs do all the heavy lifting.

I honestly think boys work best as a Zagstruk delivery system at the moment.
