The Eolian Desert Fighters are a planetary defence force caught on the wrong side of the rift and forced to use non-standard wargear as they defend their desert world from ever greater threats and remain loyal to an Imperium they hope has not abandoned them.

A new year, new season of 40K, new codex: I've assembled the whole force to see how many points I have* and this is in fact the first time they've all been out on the table together. It's the first project I started when I got back into the hobby and you can see the beginnings of it in this P&M blog: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/794296.page

This army was done on cheap, with converted vehicles like this made from the wrong scale badly 3d printed chassis with lego wheels and lollipop sticks. I made sure I got my money's worth gaming too since they all have changeable weapons and can be configured to be chimeras, taurox's, hellhounds or manticores. The count-as CRASSUS is a prototype 3d print of a 1/35 scale Aliens APC.

The count-as Malcador infernus is an old tank toy. Weighs a ton. Decided I needed one after getting trounced by Light Harlequins at a tournament.

The Scions models are from Wargames Atlantic's Iron Core box.

The Combat Engineers are also from Wargames Atlantic, the Raumjager box. The Hades Breaching Drills are kitbashed and scratched together.

Infantry squads are also Raumjager. Leman russ are bashed and scratched.

Sentinels made out of Robogear kits.

Cavalry are Seb Games Junker models

Official GW models!!

Standard!

Move over Lord Solar.

Whatever happens, he'll be watching.

Cheers!

* a lot less now all the upgrades are free. Thanks a bunch, GW

Great army showcase.
Im always impressed by the dedication to do big custom armies. And especially so with a faction that need so many models.
Good work, and good luck against those pesky Harlequins.

Cheers mate, I know you do some custum guard stuff yourself. The sandworm is a model from... etsy, can't remember the name of the maker right now. Probably inspired by Dune and Tremors. The rider is a junker from seb games. The idea is they are desert fighters and I needed a centrepeice hero/commander. I was having to count-as a Dreadnight, that's the closest datasheet I could get; but now he can be my lord solar. Base is probably too big for that but what the hell.

Thanks for the source. I'll have a look at times. Might be a nice addition to my dudes too.

By the way: really all of you models look great. I wouldn't know where to start, so just feel complimented on all of them. The Hades Drills look quite professional, could easily slip through as a commercial set. The elephant logo on the Alien-APC is a really stylish idea. The Malcador Infernus Proxy looks like a beast and all that terrain makes for a great display.

As I recently said to Oldmate when chatting with him: Can't they invent Star Trek Beamers already, so that we all could zip to each others countries and set our little toy soldiers up against each other?

Cheers Pyroalchi. Yes to beamers! ...when I look at what i've done these last 3 years and at all the people i've met, online or not, I am very happy I got back into this wonderful hobby. I can say to you 'i'll give you a game one day' and be sincere even if it may never happen.

The company that makes the worm is Mini Monster Mayhem. Shipped from down under iirc. I pinched the elephant logo is from one of my favourite albums, wish I could get a transfer as I can only paint a simplified version! But I was quite proud of the side-on view of the elephant on the banners.
