Like death and taxes funky Reaper releases are a part of our lives and the 2023 line has begun!

It's a major release this month but unfortunately most of it is Bones 5.5 overstock and limited.

So alas if you're reading this you've already missed:

Spoiler:

Demonic Legion

Glow in the Dark Cannons

Dark in the dark cannons

Tree man

Not the Balrog

Some pirate ship figureheads.

The Carnal Pit of Ghoul Queen, which is not nearly as carnal as I expected.

Random seaman stuff.

The Over Gourd who sits squarely between awesome and stupid.

Walls of Stone, which can also pass as Walls of Brick, Walls of Foam, or even Walls of Rock (though that may require some conversion)

Dino Adventurers

The Bridge Troll's Toll, which is worth getting for the name alone...

Yog-Imnotgingtotrytospellthat

Dragon Bust, who can also be used as a Wyvern Bust, a Drake Bust or even a dinosaur bust with some conversion.

A Fire Giant Hell Delivery Person

Shavynra The Slayer (Dragon)
(Why she only slays dragons is beyond me)

And of course...

The Not~Zeus Storm Giant. This one hurts. Come back soon big guy!

Hopefully these will be in regular stock sooner rather than later.

So what can you buy?

A mysterious stranger who will give you cryptic clues like 'beauty is in the eye of the Over Gourd'

Greek Pillars, who totally won't come to life and attack your party

Some sort of Parrot Ferret I think. Where do they get their ideas!

Seer-See and Pigs, another classic from Greek Myth

And finally a Greek style bronze golem, who I will totally have to pick up at some point.

Well there we are, lots of Bones this month, no metal, but tons of funky things for every taste.

Bronze Golem only just coming out?
The KS arrived so long ago, I assumed everything from it was out by now..

I think there's still a fairly decent chunk of Bones 5 stuff to get a retail release, plus a few odds and ends from the earlier ones.

Their not-Athena from Bones 6 was listed as a Kickstarter exclusive, so I wouldn't be surprised if the not-Zeus never makes it to retail.

That's actually nice enough to be a character mini for a female pirate/rogue.

I want to buy the treeman now as it looks like I could plant Chia seeds in the hollow tree parts on the top of him and have a living Treeman on the table. New KOW army the Chia force of nature army.

Some other really nice pieces in there as well.

edit: Nevermind. Found it. Wow, that maiden figurehead is big!

It's odd that I get excited most for the weird figs moreso than the fantasy staples. I didn't much pay attention to the last couple of Bones KS so most of the figs are new to me. I hope this one comes to retail most!

The idea of playing a mobile ogre shopkeep is somehow exciting to me. I shouldn't be surprised though as one of the only Mordheim figs I bought back in the day was the ogre with the wicker hamper on his back!

Is that the new bones and/or the siocast material? I'm used to the original off white and later black bones plastic but that grey is new to me.

Per their Facebook Reaper is adding stock as they figure out what they have left so some of the out of stock items I mentioned have reappeared.

Lucked out and snagged a treeman, pit of the ghouls, and fire giant. Threw in the dinosaurs because why not? I'm surprised the storm giant wouldn't see retail though, being one of D&D's classic giants. Likewise the blue dragon. Those aren't commercially viable but dire penguins and giant catfish are?

Some very nice releases. I've enjoyed painting several Bones Black minis this year. The sculps are great and not being metal they don't chip easily. I like that I can pick up a handful from the table and not have to worry about their paint.

I'm not sure that's the case. I think it's more that they have a limited stock from KS fulfilment which they're selling now, but I would hope the plan is still to put them in retail.

The female Storm Giant for Bones 6 however was advertised as a KS exclusive and may not see retail.

Pity they're going in on the 3D printing trend. I always appreciated the older miniatures and sculpts, but this 'bait and switch' on the Kickstarter has damaged my trust in them. Anyone have any experience with anything confirmed 3D printed by them, not just the Bones USA material?

I don't have any of their 3D printed minis, but I watched a recent tour video of their manufacturing facility. They had one of the free-standing Asiga printers in there, which run like $25k and are absurd in terms of quality. If they are printing to manufacture I would bet they are using that with some high end flexible resin. I think Excellent Miniatures in Germany uses the same suite of machines and I have only heard good things about the quality.

You know what they say, February comes in like an overladen henchwoman and goes out like Storm Giant (I hope!), and so Reaper's February freebie (with a $40 order) is Marine the overladen henchwomen!

https://www.reapermini.com/search/07075

Of interest, this is not a Bones mini but a 3d print.

That's much easier to say if you're living in Egypt than if you're living in New Hampshire.

If you're referring to the ogre I posted above a while back, it's kickstarter only still to my knowledge and not yet available at retail. I'm not entirely sure it will ever be either as I don't believe all bones KS'ed models make it to retail by default.

I always regretted not getting the troll bridge set as part of the kickstarter. Gutted if it never comes to retail proper.

I've also got a use for the mermaids from bones 5 but they only seem to be available as part of the whole expansion set, which comes in at a whopping £272!

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

February is half over! So let's celebrate the festival of love with some appropriate gifts from Reaper!

First off we have a brush holding dragon, that will hold your loved one's brush just as they hold your heart.

Aw!

Sometimes Cupid's arrow just isn't enough to seal the deal, and that's when you need Cupid's Ballista to really drive the point home.

Forget to order flowers on time? One of these can make sure they arrive just in time!

Sometimes words just really cannot express the depth our feelings, that's when you need to say it with a Trebuchet.

Reaper, your Valentine's solution (tm)

And the beat goes on. One thing I see this month is that Reaper seems to be moving towards larger packs of models, perhaps to reduce SKUs.

First off some henchmen, the 10' pole guy alone is worth the price.

Hmm. The 10' Pole would make a great name for an Eastern European supervillain.

And with them comes some henchwomen. The wheelbarrow woman is the clear winner here.

Then some Yokai. No Umbrella Demon though.

And some fancypants Elementals. Earth, fire and water but no air, because air sucks! Such a loser element.

And some construct/golem types.

This is an odd one, Dreadmere personas. I'm not sure when you'd need a druid, a vampire, a hunchback necromancer and whatever the other guys are, but if you ever do... there you go.

Some Mouseling adventurers, not my thing but they keep making them so they must sell no?

And last but not least a pizza dragon. If you ever need a pizza dragon.

For me the stand outs are the two hench sets but the personas are definitely a possible maybe as well.

These latest releases aren't really my thing, but I do like the sumo frog.

Is he executing a traditional stance, or pulling a Terrence-and-Phillip-style attack?

I'm partial to the Tengu and the Kappa with the biwa, personally.

I also like the henchmen, but I've been on a bit of a fantasy civilian kick lately.

I got that henchman set a year ago. It's a single box of all 13. Very nice. It's the Bones black, which is not a bad material. It not God's own material, Metal but it's fine for most use cases.

Officially she is female porter with wheelbarrow. There is also link girl and hedge mage in the set. I'm guessing hedge mage is higher level than hedge wizard.

Ah, reminds me I meant to buy that Bonehenge lady about two or three years ago. Or was it the other Bobby Jackson druid?

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

The dreadmire group are all great stand ins for npcs in curse of strahd. Very clever as that module is super popular and suffers from not having good miniatures available

You got me to take a second look at them. The Tengu is nice, but that kappa has great detail and character, and the Biwa puts it over the top. You have good taste.

I don't recall them announcing that they're outsourcing production to GW with Finecast.
