Hello,
I’m finally getting round to painting my primaris from the the inomitus box. I’m going to do them as dark angels and I can decide which to paint as deathwing, if any and I don’t know what the rules say as I haven’t bought the codex.
I also don’t know what to do with that judicar and how that character fits in with DA.
Any recommendations. Looking at this from a fun perspective but don’t want to break the rules. Just not chasing a winning formula if you know what I mean.

The Bladeguard veterans and ancient have the deathwing keyword and are painted in deathwing colors. The lieutenant and captain can both gain the deathwing keyword via Strategem, so can be painted in the deathwing colors, too.
The judiciar is an apprentice chaplain, so I painted him black with a bit of gold trimmings.
The bikes are Ravenwing (got the appropriate keywords, too). I painted the Eradicators and assault intercessor in green, as they aren't part of either Ravenwing or deathwing in the background.

Threads like this upset me as I remember GW shoe horning primaris inot everything, even when it goes against all their established background (i.e. not in terminator armour or on bike etc.).

The primaris units for the Ravenwing make sense, they are either on bikes or in speeders.
The Bladeguard units on the other hand aren't in terminator armor, but thematically fit best in the deathwing in my opinion. But I can see arguments against it, and wouldn't have been surprised if they weren't part of the deathwing.

I'm by no means an expert on this, but as far as I remember, the deathwing isn't strictly tied to Terminator armors.
It is tied to the first company. Now, it just so happens that DA have so many terminator armors that their full first company fights in terminator armor, but it is a consequence not a restriction.
Bladeguard veterans are part of the first company and so they HAVE to be part of the deathwing, by definition.

Sorry dude, I agree but I’m trying to move with the times. I think it’s telling that the upcoming Vashtorr/dark angles boxed set includes old marine deathwing terminators. GW didn’t give it enough thought, the bone coloured terminators are synonymous with most people’s expectations of the deathwing.
Also the bikes are raven wing but don’t have the embossed wings or other raven wing decals which is a shame. There are probably some transfers in the box.
I want to get the new box set so this lot will complement my new rubicon azreal and his lot

I believe there were some Ravenwing decals in the indomitus box. I didn't use them as I prefer the Ravenwing upgrade sprue ...

Historically the 1st company was all Terminators, yes. I think all the Dark Angels Command are members of the Deathwing though, and obviously they're not all in Terminator armor. But they are supernumeraries, not squad members.

I mean, if you’re trying to assemble an army without fluff and background material it’s not the worst place to start. But sure, asking for positivity in a salt mine is tough, I get it.

Sorry you want endless positivity instead of warning people that codices are outdated a week after they're bought

Given the reasons in bold that the recommendation was made, how is the DA Supplement outdated?
I might be tempted to suggest scouting an 8th 'dex on eBay, admittedly, as there may well be more background in there, but I'm saying that without having read the DA Supplement, just working off the latest Guard 'dex as a recent example.

I mean, there's two Wiki equivalents and 1d4chan. You don't even need the codex for fluff explanation and Chapter organization

Not that 1d4chan should ever be recommended as a serious source - but if someone is posting here asking such questions, that would imply that such resources are insufficient for their needs, no?
