Hello Dakka! I've not been on here for a while but having found that Warseer was still going I decided to stick my nose back into Forum Kulchur proppa like.

So anyway with the new Guard Codex I have (of course) started another Guard infantry force, but alongside that I decided that I could justify getting myself a tank company, which is something I've always wanted, so long as I got a tank a month.

The list is pretty simple - a Rogal Dorn for the Company Commander, a Vanquisher for the Commissar, three Vanquishers for the troop commanders, and six standard Leman Russ for the base tanks. 11 Russ and a Dorn.

Now without further ado, here is the first vehicle of Blue Company, Black Battalion, Paradisan CDXX Armoured:

Front view - the business end!

Right view - note company/battalion identifier on the hull front, and tank identifier A1 on the turret side.

Rear view - tank name ANNIHILATION on the rear of the turret stowage boxes, and nicely painted skull-and-laurel.

Left view - same markings as on the right side.

Top view - note the polished golden Aquila to protect the spirit of the tank and the souls of the crew from the enemies of the Imperium.

The camouflage scheme is essentially the late-WW1 buntfarbenanstrich German scheme that was applied to everything from some A7V tanks to gas mask canisters via helmets and machine-gun shields. It was hilariously easy to paint - spray black, then apply blocks of Loren Forest, Mournfang Brown and Balor Brown, leaving black lines between the colours. Overall Nuln Oil wash and then a heavy drybrush of the original colours to highlight.

I tend not to do more than that with tanks because they're so large natural light and shadow tends to give you highlights anyway!

Unfortunately your pictures don't appear to be loading - are you hosting them on dakka? The forum doesn't handle images hosted outside well.

Looks like they're hosted in something of Google's, but trying to load the given links directly gets me the same result as above, unfortunately.

This is, emphatically, why I will continue suggesting nuking Guard and starting over again. It's a legacy army that needs to be rebooted with a new focal point.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

There we go! I love the little bit of blue on the front, that really makes the scheme so much more interesting than just camo. It really works!

A tank a month is a great way to go. I love that camo scheme. It works very well on the tank and I can imagine it working well on infantry as well.
